Etiquette used to be about making the other person comfortable & happy. Even in a restaurant, waiting for 20 minutes wth no idea where the other parties are is not making anyone that happy.

With all these communication yattering devices around, I'd be somewhat peeved. My more laid back husband would be enjoying a quiet time out with the missus, but while he's scrupulously punctual, he's laid back about the quirks of others.

    Relax on the insults people.

The reason he called 4-5 times is because the restaurant they had booked didn't have their booking. They were very busy but still had a table for us (I suspect it was the booked table, the waitress' English was very limited), so we were panicking that we had got the wrong place seeing as they weren't there and of course took 20 minutes.

OCD is perhaps too strong a word. I am a stickler for being on time as I think late for no reasonable explanation is the epitome of rudeness, especially if it down to someone's poor planning and general disrespect.

I don't think anyone insulted you (I'm assuming you are referring to my post). I certainly didn;t insult you, I just think you were overzealous.

You have now drip-fed some more information but I still feel five times is excessive. Why not once and then a text?

And if you don;t have OCD, don;t claim that you do, it is disrespectful to people who really do have it. It's a condition, not an adjective.

If you feel your family generally disrespect you, then that's a different issue really.
