  • Hi all

Your posts are all very inspiring - I am hoping to be able to do more in time, although I don't think I will ever be able to walk on my hands!

Yesterday I had two walks - My 1.6 mile shop walk plus another later. For this week I will keep up the 1.6 miles, then increase it on Monday. For now I'm trying gradually to increase my walking speed as I find I've got slower over the years - though it's not so easy as there are roads and traffic lights.

    Food for today
    Breakfast - porridge and blueberries
Snack - carrots and hummous and/or an apple
Lunch - crispbread, cream cheese, salad, nectarine
Dinner - not sure yet, but something with rice and a salad.

Still doing my physio exercises. I will increase the repetitions next week if all goes okay.

Fmess, just a few more days to go! Hang in there!

YORKSHIRELASStori - yay to no more Gove! But , did you ever watch 'Yes Minister'? Although the figurehead may change, the guys who do all the work and effectively make decisions are still there. Grrr! How much more messing can/will they do?! Do REST that knee - hope it improves soon.

:rotfl::rotfl: No Gove is a nice added boost to the summer holiday mood for the English teachers :)

Sorry for not keeping up much. I have had a lot going on. Hopefully today can be back on track eating and exercise wise. Tori.k I must try some raw broccoli. Never thought of that!

    Well done yorkshirelass.

applemuncher - that's a lot of steps, well done.

tori - ouch, hope it eases soon.

    well done catcherupper.

I have been to the gym this morning but will be missing my bike ride this evening as we are going to a BBQ.

Can I ask a question of those of you who exercise very early in the morning? How do you do it? I am a fairly early riser but my earliest for exercise is 9am, do you eat before you go or just get up and go? How do you do for energy?

Hi Dolly, I'm one who prefers early morning exercise. That way it's all over before my body and brain realise what's going on! :rotfl:

I exercise at home, which makes it easier. I have a 5min warm up that is fab and effective, then I can do a ZWOW, or tabata. I go for very high intensity - no way could I do 25mins of tabata style! I'm a sweaty mess after a max of 20 mins of workout - after that my form suffers.

With working 4 days a week, early morning has only been an option on the day dh does the am school run. This is when I'm up at 6, getting a coffee down me asap, and working out by 6.15. On the day I don't work, I usually exercise after the sch run and food shop, so at about 10.30 or 11.

Everyone has their optimum time - whether it's by bodyclock or work or family schedules. I must admit that as I age, I realy really really must do a warm up and cool down!

And I don't eat first! No time, no inclination, no need as I'm all done and dusted within 30 mins usually.

I exercise first thing in the morning, usually get up at 6 to walk dogs, if I do an exercise DVD then it's 5. Can only manage that a couple of times a week though.
No food, just straight into it. (obviously warm up first).

Im up at 5am I just do a few set's of push-up's, sit-ups, crunches, squats and the likes with a good old stretching session 25mins tops before I hit the shower only formal session will be a Power Yoga class at 7.30-8.15 on a Tuesday during the school holidays, upper body gets it's daily workout from carrying people's shopping. I really have to push myself to eat in the mornings so it's usually just a yoghurt and fruit, tho come 11am im ready for dinner :)

Prudent raw broccoli is fantastic better still the next day if it's mixed with a creamy dressing overnight im loving allrecipes.com/recipe/creamy-lemon-dressing/at the moment I sub the sour cream with Greek yoghurt.

Rest day on one challenge today, but I completed the other two, including a 40 second plank. (I know 40 seconds is not a lot, but I couldn't do planks at all fairly recently, so it's a definite improvement! :) ) I have the dreaded Burpees in the Little Black Dress challenge tomorrow. My most hated exercise!

I don't do early mornings at all, but having said that, I do work from home so I'm trying to get at least some of my exercise done straight away in the morning, before my shower. Usually about 9am.

I don't eat before, since I don't eat breakfast until very late in the day anyway

Hi Dolly, I'm one who prefers early morning exercise. That way it's all over before my body and brain realise what's going on! :rotfl:

Me too! I get up at 6am, out the door at 6.15, run for 30 minutes, a few stretches and I am home and in the shower at 7. All I have is a glass of fruit juice before I go then a good breakfast when I get back. Logically running on empty like that shouldnt be good for you but it works for me!

Ouch with the knee Tori, I dread injuring myself. I fell on a bridleway a few years ago (gave up off road running after that) and it was so frustrating trying to get fit again. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery!

I did 10 miles on the bike last night. I have decided to do this twice a week and see how I get on. The back is fine today and I was OK running this morning but I am going to take it steady.

Tori.k Thank you. I will try that. You are all so good with the exercises in the morning! I get up at 6am, but spend 45 minutes at the computer doing comps :o

The weather has been bad here today. Thankfully it has cleared up and I just got out for a 40 minute walk. I did my back exercises this morning, but otherwise have been shopping & decorating.

    Food today:

    B. green smoothie - spinach, parsley, cucumber, kiwi & berries

    L. Avocado, humus & tomato sandwich and an apple.

    S. a banana

    D. Linda MacCartney Burger (:( ), sweet potato wedges, salad & homemade coleslaw.
