Getting fitter and trimmer

Hi all
Can I join too please
I started mid January, gone from 106.5 kg to 95.2 kg weight loss nearly 25 lbs.
I do the LCHF (low carb high fat) because it works for me and doesn't spike my blood sugar, I am diabetic
We have a great Council Leisure Centre locally locally with a 25 m pool and they've just upgraded all the gym machines. I swim and do aqua fit regularly. I would like to cycle but my knee doesn't bend enough following
umpteen knee ops including knee replacement, good thing I like swimming!
I also have the magic scales where your weight mysteriously goes up and down like a yo yo. I'm thinking of getting rid of them. I have a pair of Calvin Klein Sports jeans I bought in USA in 1990 and my big ambition is to get back into them.
Good luck to all

I've downloaded the my fitness pal app and hopefully that will make me think twice if I see the calorie values of everything I'm eating.
I find 15 custard creams hits the spot for me :rotfl:. On a more serious note I would advise you deal with the situation before you get home so maybe a small banana or handful of nuts or a yoghurt before you leave work or on the way home if possible.trailingspouse wrote: »Just in from the walk - lovely. It's not a terribly long walk, but I stride out with purpose and get those arms swinging. Also, I've been plagued with a funny hip for a few days - I felt something crack, and it isn't hurting now, so that's got to be a good thing! Tomorrow I'll go further - should I head for Leeds, or Liverpool?
Have had a frustrating day at work doing battle with the banks, so I needed the fresh air and space to clear my head. Feeling much better now.
Pilates in the morning - altogether now, engage that core and... breathe!!

Head for Liverpool, I'll head for Leeds and see if we meet along the way :rotfl:I live near the half way point of the L&L canal.In_Debt_Bet wrote: »Does anyone have any tips for what to eat when you really need a snack, my worst time is when I get in from work while I'm getting dinner ready, take this evening despite all my good intentions I got in from work late and devoured two slices of toast with butter and jam without blinking and have just eaten my dinner - now I'm feeling really angry with myself for being so weak

What about having some fruit or veg already prepped in the fridge so you can munch whilst you cook dinner? OCcasionally I have a cracker and a slice of cheese just to ward off the hunger pangs.
Hmmm... going to be a tricky start to the diet today. Being taken out for lunch by a work colleague as a thank you. Must choose wisely!
Had beans on toast for breakfast (hopefully will keep me going until 12.30pm) and having a chicken pot roast thing for tea (recipe from a mag) with chicken thighs, sliced spuds and sweet spuds and veg.0 -
applemuncher - how do you use your dried milk?
giblet - that is a big weight loss you have planned for May I hope you achieve it.
I took my bike with me on the school run (pushed it loaded up with bags and a guitar) then went straight off afterwards for a 45 minute ride, I am going to map the mileage and I will let you know how far it was. I was really worn out when I got back.
After lunch I have a long dog walk planned, this should take an hour but I will need to go quite quickly to get it done in that time. I will be working for the rest of the afternoon then and probably all evening too.
Todays food -
Breakfast - 2 weetabix & soya milk, coffee
phase 2 of breakfast after bike ride, crumpet, flora, coffee
Lunch - cous cous & chicken, bread roll with flora, banana, strawberries and youghurt.
Tea - 2 wraps, chicken cooked in jerk seasoning, salad and a dash of mayo.
any other snacks will be fruit.
I know I am in the minority but I love carbs, eat loads of them and it seems to work for me, a low carb, high protein diet leaves me on the verge of collapse.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I'm a recovering/recovered bulimic and I don't actually really need to lose weight but I'd love to start running again now I feel I'm ready! I do have slight wobbly bits (as most of us mums do) which I'd like to get rid of. I used to overdo it and run 10 miles a day which really messed with my hormonesbut my attitude to food is now much healthier and I'd like to start again so I don't worry so much about treats
Also thinking of doing Insanity/p90x when I get my fitness levels back up :j
Plus OH wants to lose weight - so I'm going to follow for some healthy meal inspirations0 -
Update
Doing ok. Yesterday was a bit troublesome as getting back to work after 10 days off I found out my job cover had been taken off my role to do something else. I am a team of one and my role has very harsh repercussions to the business as a whole if I fail to hit our agreed targets. Due to a silly middle manager of a totally different area of the business messing about in things he didn’t understand my cover was ordered to do a low priority role in his area. My cover objected but was over ruled.
I was livid but calmly explained that he had made a poor choice. The manager was rather smug, rude and totally unrepentant as his department had been covered meaning HIS targets had been met..... until the breach was flagged (as per protocol) and the proverbial hit the fan. He was not nearly so smug at that point.
The damage needed undone so i had 12 hrs of insane catch up where i just didn’t move from my desk. However as i was just about nailed to my desk and the only thing i could reach was my water bottle i did manage to drink the 1.5 ltr water i set myself. It was kind of cheating though. Lol
Due to the above no yoga was done.
I also bought some V8 juice to get some veg in my diet, a nut bar and had a Kiev and sweet pot fries for dinner.
Today I had tea and fruit toast when i got up at 0430 (counts as one your 5 a day) after arriving at work at 0900 a belvita honey and live yogurt bar with V8 juice. A cuppa at break with three, yes three, nut bars (opps) salad for lunch and a fresh pomegranate and natural yoghurt for afters. Gammon with sweet corn and broccoli is lined up for dinner. I am nearly through my 1.5 ltrs. Yay.
Yoga is lined up to commence week after next and i have been looking at times for my local adult gymnastics class. I am new to the area so am feeling bad about rocking up to a gymnastics class looking like a heifer but if I want to get back to looking trim i am going to have to bite the bullet.
Right, back to putting out fires and clearing the horrendous backlog....
Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
Well, not sure how successful lunch choices were. I did have a black coffee whilst everyone else else had dessert but I had a pizza, because someone said they weren't too large, but they lied...it was huge. Had crab cakes for starter. It all seemed a lot of food to consume at lunchtime.0

Oooh it's lovely to 'see' new people joining in every day. Hello one and all!
dolly, I was rather hoping my dried milk munching would not be noticed! The following will make me sound quite odd! But none of you know me in real life, so what the heck!! I use it in with the mix of ingredients I have for breakfast (100g cottage cheese, 60-100g plain yog of some sort - usually full fat - 10g ground almonds, 2-4g cinnamon - depends on how much jumps out when I shake it - and 10g dried milk.)
I got (back) into the habit of consuming it when i was doing a lot of heavy workouts and it was recommended to be taking supplements and protein shakes. Well, I've still not bothered with the supplements, and the protein powders have so many unpronounceable ingredients (not counting the fact that I didn't reckon any of them were gluten free) that NO WAY was I paying to put chemicals in my body. Looking at the dried milk pot, it has a high protein content, so I use that, mixed especially with cottage cheese, which also has a good amount of protein.
So, a long answer - sorry! I u derstand that my love of dried milk (I'd happily eat it with a teaspoon!!) makes me weird - at least dh reckons so! But I can live with that!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
