Welcome applemuncher, trailingspouse, Melonade, want_to_save, oldestgnome, Tygermoth, crazy_lady
trailingspouse I am teaching some of my A level kids about osteoporosis and the benefits of weight bearing exercise tomorrow afternoon J
want_to_save thatis a great goal to have and like that saying ‘cute at 40’.
That’s a great day dollyJ You put me to shame.
Tygermoth I find that my eating is too often dependent on what is happening in the rest of mylife and it sounds like you’ve had a very stressful year. Don’t be too hard on yourself though, you are addressing the situation and should congratulate yourself on that. I am very jealous about the sound of aerial silks! What does that involve?
crazy_lady it sounds like you’ve had a tumultuous year too! I like your idea of confessing, I think I may borrow it (if that’s ok?)
So today was the last day of eating poorly for me. The fridge is stocked with healthy options, I have prepped my work lunch for tomorrow (halloumi salad, grapes and yoghurt for snacks) and I am aiming for at least 2 miles dog walking after work. I’m on my feet all day at work so find that I clock up the miles at work but keep meaning to get a pedometer to check how far I actually cover.
Good luck for tomorrow people, not looking forward to the 6am alarm LLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

I would also like to join. Think I am about 11st 3lbs. Going on holiday in 6 weeks so would like to loose 9lbs for that. So 1.5lbs to go per week!
I go to the gym as have a membership at a nice place. Going to aim for 4-6 classes per week and swim most days
Good luck all:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Hi all, and thanks Fmess for starting the thread. Can I please join?
I have a very long road ahead, having a minimum of 112lbs to lose (my original goal was 119 but I've never made it to this since I was about 10yrs old, and am trying to be more reasonable in my old age....)
I am a serial dieter, and was very successful for my wedding, losing 4 stone, but unfortunately I have put that back on, plus almost 3 more. I have nearly hit my 'heaviest ever' weight, and am fed up, ashamed, and horrified etc etc having promised myself I would NEVER allow this to happen again. It is nearly 4 years since I got married, so the initial 'contentment' that everyone talks about is still there in terms of happiness (love DH to bits....), but I should stop using it as an excuse for my waistline.
To make it worse, two very important goals (weight loss for surgery that currently causes me daily pain, and fertility treatment) are not available to me until I lose weight. I've put on another two stone since it was more important that I did so due to these reasons. Nightmare. I go to a slimming class and have a (cheap) gym membership but I'm technically throwing money away at this point on these, whilst working so hard elsewhere to be debt free.
I'd really appreciate feeling more accountable on here, and hope that it will help. My hands are tied a little bit for the next couple of days, but I will start with a passion on Wednesday, and try and do the best I can until then.
Lots of luck everyone, and sorry for the long post xDebt remaining:

Welcome clippy and giblet
giblet I find it really useful to have small targets within my overall targets. So for example, I want to be about 8st 10lbs but for now I'd like to lose 7 lbs by the end of May. This helps me feel like I'm achieving something and I can celebrate my successes along the way. As you say you think it's a long road, why not make some smaller roads to tick off along the way? Perhaps if there is a specific weight you need to be for the surgery or fertility treatment, that could be your first road?
By the way, I love long posts, so everyone feel free to rambleLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Morning all! (And Fmess)
So today is the day
Water and yoga today. small goals moving to larger ones. I have some granola for when i get into work and a hearty salad for lunch. Taking my green tea too as i can drink several cups of tea a day with milk and two sugars. So i will knock that down to two today.
I am on a 12 hr shift with only 45 min lunch so wont fit a walk in today but will do my lunch time yoga. I have wrenched my back a bit (moving house) so a soft start will be better.
To glam it up i did my nails last night - no polish on them i didn't get time but both hands and toes neatened and filed, hair conditioned and bicarb face scrub followed by a lovely cream.
Goal for tomorrow (so I don't forget)I need to look at how to get more veg into my diet. i am having one portion a day ... at most! that needs sorting asap.
Off to Seize the day. Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
Today I shall only eat what is planned. This is fine at work, but once I'm home it's harder as there's more food around! I'll report back later as to whether I did it or not. Silence probably means guilt!!
I shall also aim for 10,000 steps.
Have a great day!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Congrats ladies it amazing what you have already achieved, Tygermoth as someone that also when from being very fit to unfit it was surprising how fast my body responded getting back into exercise, you have muscle memory so should be swinging from the chandeliers before you know it.
I'd also like to walk along with you all if you don't mind im currently doing 2 circuit training classes a week and 1 novice spinning I also swim (badly) twice a week, TBH I only swim because there is a sauna in the pool area so that one of my treats.
I opted for the gym route im awful at self discipline for working out at home, where im tight enough that because my gym membership is costing me £35PM I will make the most out of it.
I've dropped 23LBS since January following slimming world would like to drop 7LB to 137 to put me back comfortable in a size 10, I have RA so can no-longer run anymore as it much for my knees so it's more important then ever that I keep on-top of my fitness.
Today is weigh in day and a rest day for me other than a two mile walk to SW if it's not chucking it down0 -
Morning all.
Some very interesting stories which I have enjoyed reading. If only we could bottle the enthusiasm we feel right now for those low days.
Tygermoth - don't be to hard on your self, I went from being very fit and athletic to a size 18, still quite fit but nothing like before, I have tried to get myself together before now but everything has to be just right for me to do it and now is the right time.
Fmess - you have already had an amazing weight loss you obviously know what you need to do and I'm sure you will succeed.
I agree running is very hard on the body and not suitable for everyone. I am doing it despite the fact that each run nearly blooming kills me because nothing else burns calories like it for me.
Today the plan is to catch up on some cleaning jobs as DH and the kids are back at work/school and I'm not working, then to walk the dog to the woods, round it and back which is about an hour at a fair clip with a hideous hill on the way home. My cough really took hold last night so I am tired but will try for a jog either this afternoon or after tea.
Food today
Breakfast - 2 weetabix with soya milk, slice of hot cross bun loaf & flora.
Lunch - cous cous with cooked chicken, yoghurt, banana & strawberries.
Tea - Chicken stirfry & rice noodles.
3 or 4 coffee/tea with milk, and very well diluted squash to drink (I can't abide plain water).
crazy_lady - You sound like you have had a hard time, I'm sure it must take a long time to recover from cancer treatment, the short runs that you are doing are the best way to start, too many times people think I'll go running just for 1/2 an hour only to find they can't even do 1 minute and then give up. The first minute is the worst imo as your body is struggling to get used to this sudden use of energy, there is no shame in walking in between.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hello can I join too please
I'm not exactly sure what I weigh but I'm pretty sure that it's the wrong side of 10 stone and I'm 5' 3" tall. My scales seem to vary depending on whereabouts in the bathroom floor they are with the difference being as much as 4 lbs - I tend to weigh myself, move the scales a few times and just pick the lowest weight that comes up. I have a daily struggle over what to wear and keep telling myself I need new clothes when the reality is that if I just lost some weight I'd have plenty of clothes as I could fit into anything in my wardrobe
I'm 47 in four months time so it's time to get serious , I need to do much more exercise than the 1 zumba class a week I currently do and look at my diet - need to up the fruit and veg intake and cut the fat sugar and salt, it sounds so easy, if only chocolate, cheese, bread, crisps and wine counted as one of my five a day I'd be laughing.
Goal for today - do some exercise.Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.0
