Does anyone have any tips for what to eat when you really need a snack, my worst time is when I get in from work while I'm getting dinner ready, take this evening despite all my good intentions I got in from work late and devoured two slices of toast with butter and jam without blinking and have just eaten my dinner - now I'm feeling really angry with myself for being so weak

I've downloaded the my fitness pal app and hopefully that will make me think twice if I see the calorie values of everything I'm eating.

Just in from the walk - lovely. We live by the Leeds Liverpool canal, so mostly flat (although the incline by Bingley 5-Rise is a killer). Saw a duckling!!! First this year. How was yours?

It's not a terribly long walk, but I stride out with purpose and get those arms swinging. Also, I've been plagued with a funny hip for a few days - I felt something crack, and it isn't hurting now, so that's got to be a good thing! Tomorrow I'll go further - should I head for Leeds, or Liverpool?

Have had a frustrating day at work doing battle with the banks, so I needed the fresh air and space to clear my head. Feeling much better now.

Pilates in the morning - altogether now, engage that core and... breathe!!

I try to use the mantra 'protein and produce' for snacks. So an apple cut into 8 with peanut or any nut butter on. Or nuts with an apple. Or hummous and veggie sticks. Or a pear and cheese. A hard boiled egg and some grapes. Hope this gives you some ideas. :)

Thanks apple muncher I'm definitely going to try apple slices with nut butter they sound yummy. I'm going to take some time tomorrow and stock up my fridge with some healthy snacks, now that there are no crisps or biscuits in the house (probably because I've eaten them) there's no excuse to keep eating rubbish, my new mantra will be 'you are what you eat' :)

I agree with apple muncher protein snacks are great. I try to alternate between chicken breast slices/chunks (the prepacked ones - I love the tikka ones) or a small wedge of cheese. I also like berries as I find it takes me a while to eat them!

Go towards Liverpool :) I don't know why, just felt like it'd be my preferred option :rotfl:

I have resisted the urge to eat this evening, after tea, and feeling quite virtuous. All raring to go for day 2 :T

Breakfast, shredded wheat with full fat milk (sorry but the other option was to eat them dry, can't stand any other milk)
    Lunch, a snickers
    Dinner, McDonalds

Oh my god what am I doing  this is exactly what I do when I start something like this, so tomorrow can only get better!!

Doing a proper shop tomorrow so no excuses :D should of been better prepared, my own fault.

Edited to say that writing it down has shocked me and if I can stay honest on here then I know I can look back at my silliness in black and white.

I'm also on the bandwagon. We weight has slowly and consistently crept up over the last 10 years, and whilst my weight and BMI are still healthy for my height I'm the biggest I've ever been and it shows no sign of stopping or slowing down. Quite the opposite in fact, I've reached the point where I now struggle to fit into a size 10, refuse to buy size 12 but have thus far struggled to be sufficiently motivated enough to slim back down into my size 8-10 stuff. The result? I have a enforced capsule wardrobe of clothes which just about fit. I look and feel run down, and am fed up of it.

I found an instagramer the other day, corinanielsen (via pinterest), and her description of being skinnyfat struck a chord. Reading through her blog and browsing her instagram feed has given me a swift kick up the proverbial. Starting Sunday so as to get a headstart on May, I decided that it was time to stop making excuses and start making changes, and smarter choices. I respond well to gentle visual reminders, so am now following a few different people via instagram, pinterest and blogger for inspiration, motivation and ideas to pinch.

I'm struggling to reason with myself that I didn't end up like this overnight, and it will take time to reverse the damage. I've decided to start small but consistently, with a view to building up over May itself and beyond. Getting my diet back on track is my ultimate goal this month, as it has gotten really out of hand of late. Cutting right down on 'treats' (they AREN'T treats if you're eating every day!) to get my sugar cravings under control. Eating breakfast, and more importantly making sure I eat properly to avoid the jittery, hypoglycaemic feelings brought on myself by poor diet choices. Drinking more water to start improving my skin from the inside out. Like Melonade, I find preparation is often my nemesis. Prepping in advance is a worthwhile investment of my time. For example, I bought salad on the weekend and spent 20 minutes washing and chopping to make a big mixed salad bowl which I then decant for use in meals. Putting my lunchbox together for work takes no time at all as a result, and I eat better.

Yesterday's 'achievement' was ignoring the biscuits in the staffroom, and eating a clementine and having a fruit tea to try and curb the sugar cravings. The fact that something so simple even feels like an achievement is quite upsetting really, and shows how ingrained my poor food choices had become. Today's breaktime treat (inspired by apple muncher) is some peanut butter to make my apple at break time more filling

Starting weight is 10st 4 (I'm 5.7 for reference). No set weight goal in mind (feeling and looking good in my own skin is the ultimate aim), but getting back down to around 9.5 stone will double my wardrobe options, and hitting 9st will triple it.

Good luck to one and all. Let the games commence.

So, it's Tuesday, and my day off. Usually a busy busy day with plenty of walking - no canal here, not even a stream! - a big exercise session, and not-so-good eating as I pick at stuff. All healthy, just too much of it!

Today I vow to eat as if I was at work.

I totally understand the problems of not planning ahead! Being coeliac, I have no choice - I simply cannot eat commercially produced foods. And that makes the decision-making process so much easier: I can only eat what I take with me. Dd is the same, so thinking ahead re food, snacks, even drinks, has become second nature now. And I do take a LOT of food with us - I'd rather bring it back home than fret about being hungry!

    Have a great day :j.

    Morning everyone.

It's going to be another lovely day in the Kernow so washing is already out,
it's the harder circuit class tonight, George is lovely but dose like to think of interesting ways to make me miserable at time's :)
Tuesday's is a bit of a rush from work to gym but I always feel better once i've done a class even if I have to push myself to do it

    food will be
Bfast fruit salad and lots of coffee
    Lunch jacket pot and beans
Dinner 2 poached eggs on wmeal toast
    snacks cheese&grapes Greek yogurt

set myself a mini challenge for this week to drink 1LTR of plain water each day while at work hoping it will become habit forming, I do opt too easily for coffee I drive all day and do often end up a bit dehydrated in the warmer weather this is something so easy todo, so why I don't is beyond me...

    Have a great day everyone

    Morning all,

Just weighed myself to check if the scales were lying the last two days (10st 2 lbs on Sunday and 10 st 3 lbs on Monday). Today they show 9 st 12lbs! So either I've discovered some amazing weight loss secret (not sure what it is!) or they really are inaccurate!

Going to weigh on a Monday morning from now on and ideally only once a week, so we'll see next Monday if there is any change compared to 10 st 3lbs.
