People living their lives through Facebook/Mobiles etc

Ive just come back from a holiday in america and we were sat in a restaurant having an evening meal. At the table next to us were a party of 5 girls who were all sat looking at their phones, at the table opposite were a couple in their 60/70s who were both sat scrolling through facebook and at another table were a young couple who completely ignored each other all night but were both texting non-stop. At another table were a couple and she was on Facebook whilst he sat doing a Soduko puzzle book.

Why bother going out together!

but they were telling everyone what a fabulous time they were having!
If I am having a fabulous time - I am living in that moment, I am not texting or effbooking or Twitting!
I am of an older generation of course. if I have a visitor then the tv goes off. and I give my full attention to them. these days, my visitor will hear a beep and whip their phone out and totally ignore me while they reply to the txt. That, to me, is extremely bad manners. I don't do it. if my moby beeps then the text will wait until I have time to deal with it.

I have to admit to taking selfies, but only because I hate pictures of myself that other people take cos all I see is fat, where as if I take one myself at leads it's a more flattering angle and not obsessively so, just when I change my profile pics if it's out of date (I change my hair colour all the time)

The worst thing is seeing kids left alone to play in the park or ignored in pushchairs whilst mum happily taps away on her phone.
