Another letter from Lloyds TSB today................:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

This one was to tell me that they had made all payments from my account but that I had now gone over my overdraft! And could I please arrange to bring the account up to date as soon as possible.

    I rang them and flipped.

I told them that I had been declared bankrupt on 06 July, that is nearly 4 months now, almost every week they send me a letter asking for money, every week I ring them again to tell them I am bankrupt, the lady from Lloyds admitted that my account had been passed to the "bankruptcy team" and that she was sorry. I said that I didn't want her to be sorry, I wanted her to make them stop sending me letters asking me for money that I no longer owed them. Again she said she was sorry. I asked her why they kept sending me letters, she just kept apologising, I said I didn't want her apologies, I wanted to know why they were still sending me letters, she said that she didn't know.

Then in full rant mode I told them that was they were doing was against the law, to harass a bankrupt for money (not sure if that bit is true) and that if they sent me one more letter I would be making a complaint to the financial ombudsman (don't know if that's the right place!). Again she said she was sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry etc etc etc. I was bored of hearing it by then so hung up. I felt a bit bad afterwards, I mean it's not the poor woman's fault that Lloyds are suck a bunch of misfits, but I was to angry to think straight.

Anyways other than that things are fine. I'm managing to have a cheapy xmas this year (present-wise) and have bought most of them already so that's good, I am a bit short on cash this month and it's still a while till payday but the cupboards are stocked and the car is full of petrol so I'll just need to be a bit careful for the next couple of weeks that's all. On another note, my (usually horrible) manager has agreed that I can do my 37 hours at work over 4 days instead of 5. I'll go into the reasons for that at another time, it's a long (and sad) story, and I'm to tired (mainly cos I've drunk to much wine ha) to tell it right now.

    Night night. x x x

  • Hi Claire,

I've just sat and read your thread from start to finish and I just wanted to say thank you :) H and I are just about to start on the long and bumpy road to BR and I'm, not to put too fine a point on it, quite terrified. But reading your story has given me some hope that you CAN come through the other side and get on with your life.

    I think you're inspirational :)

  • Allt the best Clare. I hope this is the last you will hear from the bank. I think you are right and it is illegal for them to harass you. You could report them to the Financial Ombudsman.

Claire did you get a co-op bank account straightaway or was it referred, anyway im off to get a bottle of baileys tonight its a right headache all this thing.

Just seen this, I did my co-op application by phone on the day of Br and it was accepted straight away, I think if you can get in quick and your credit file isn't too bad they will do it straight away.

    Hope that helps

I haven't been loitering for the past few days because I've been pooh-lee bad . I'm dreading going back to work tomorrow, I had a letter from my manager a few weeks back warning me about my sickness, but on Wednesday I came down with a nasty stomach bug thats been doing the rounds and had to go home (I literally had no choice, I hadn't the energy to do anything). So am fully expecting a *****king on a grand scale tomorrow  from my wonderful manager  If she thinks I'm going to take it though she's got another thing coming, I feel a trip to the union office coming on already; I'm not going to be made to feel bad/stressed/guilty or anything else for going home when I'm ill no matter how many days I've had off this year (4 episodes not including this one, I don't think that's excessive).

Anyway, it's been a quiet week, no letters from Lloyds TSB, no phonecalls either :T maybe they've all taken the hint now. I hope so.

I know I have a pay rise soon that will be backdated to April (I work for the NHS) so I'm going to need to contact the OR and let them know. I assume I will be able to keep the backdated money but won't be spending any until they've given me the go ahead, just in case. My payrise won't put me into IPA zone so nothing to worry about there.

  • Aw Claire, i hope your feeling better.
its terrible the way companies over react to illness now a days.
I was off for 3 days last year (first illness for a year) and wasn't allowed to go to work because of the job i do and i still got a big boll**ing and put on a level 2..ohhhhh (level 3 and its a warning and your out.) The stress of worrying about being ill makes you ill.
Anyway, take it on the chin, you've been through much worse than a slap on the wrists from some jumped up manager.
    Good luck to you

    18 November 2007 (a little later ..........)

I've just had an email from the mastercard people asking why I haven't paid for my prepaid credit card yet (I haven't had time or the money), and at the end of the email telling me about a new card they're offering, a flexiplus. Basically this card is £9.95 set up fee, then £1 per transaction, which suits me a whole lot better than a fiver per month. I won't use a card that much to benefit from paying that as I have my debit card (and won't have that much to load onto a prepay card anyways) but it does mean that I can save a little after Xmas towards some new stuff for my flat, (I literally need everything, new hoover, saucepans, bed, fridge freezer and thats just to start) without being charged a fiver a month for doing so. That's a fiver I could be putting towards stuff!

Quick question, I know when your BR your not allowed to borrow any money without informing that person that your BR, anyways, my dad has offered to lend me the money for a hol in Feb (He's in Spain at the moment and I was just having a whinge to him), I was wondering how the OR would view this? It wouldn't be extravagant, just a cheap last minute thing, but it would be nice to get away somewhere hot and sunny just for a week.

  • Well IMO Claire the OR would only view this badly IF he knew about it.
Won't you be discharged by then? maybe tell them your going on holiday and your father is paying for it & not lending you the money. Just an idea, see what others think first though.

I wish I would be discharged by then! No I didn't do the deed until July so I've quite a while left unless I get early discharge which would be nice but I won't hold my breath!

I suppose I don't have to tell them I'm borrowing it. My dad wouldn't need it back any time soon so it's not like it'll make a huge difference to my outgoings, I can just put away a tenner here and there.

I'm just worried that the OR might find out somehow, or even try and contact me while I'm away (even though he hasn't contacted me in any shape or form for the past few months, these things seem to happen to me!!!!!!!!)
