I've not posted here for a while because in all honesty there has been nothing to post!!

I've been wondering about ED a lot for the past few days and I don't think I'll get one, I'm still having letters from a few of my creditors (it's been almost 4 months since I went BR now) and it leads me to believe (perhaps incorrectly?) that the OR hasn't 'dealt' (or isn't dealing) with my case yet (hence the reason some of the creditors still don't know). Anyway, I'm not expecting it, if I don't expect it and it happens then it will be a nice surprise, and if it doesn't happen I wont be disappointed.

I was quite saddened to read the thread over on DT "is bankruptcy theft by another name". I've been reading it but have chosen not to post on there due to the fact that I think a lot of threads are deliberately started by people out to cause trouble, and if not they're then carried on by people looking to cause trouble (I'm not talking about anyone from here BTW!!!). I just wanted to say to anyone reading this, who has also seen the thread in question, and who has not yet done the deed, but might be thinking about it, not all people are as stuck in the past as others, by that I mean most people have moved with the times and accept that in some circumstances BR is the only option for some people nowadays. Also, most people (most people I have met anyway) have been nothing but supportive of my decision, even those I thought would have to chip in their 2pence worth haven't. So if anyone has read that thread and it has made them worried that that's the attitude of most people, let me assure you it isn't, it's just the attitude of a tiny weeny (and in my opinion narrow minded) minority.

    Night all

That thread was bad wasn't it. I too stayed off it as I didn't feel I had the strength to deal with it. At least it wasn't on here though which is a blessing.

    It does get better honest!

Mine was referred, if you keep on to them they should tell you when (approximately) t will be ready. Mine took about 3 weeks and from what I've read here that isn't unusual.

I did feel I had the strength to deal with it, the thing is I find that the more people post, the more people argue back or try and use your words against you, very annoying! There was plenty I wanted to say (and still do) but I feel that if I posted what I really want to post then it just takes the thread back to the top of the board where more trolls will find it and post and more insults will be traded. I just felt it was best to not post and hope that the thread dropped off the page.

I do agree though about it not being on this board, that wouldn't have made nice reading for more than a few people going through the process.

    Claire,
Reading you county court carry on made me smile, laugh and cry (well almost!!!). We have ben considering going bankrupt, we had our house repossessed in October 2005, and currently have £55k of debt - paying back at £200 per month. Always felt a bit aprhensive about having to face bankruptcy, and the stigma attached to it - but after reading your thread feel much more positive. Good luck for the future, many thanks

For some reason Ive started getting letters from my creditors again. Lloyds TSB sent one the other day saying they were going to file a default if I did not pay them £1300 in the next 7 days. I rang and explained to them (again!) that I wouldn't be paying because I am bankrupt. They said they would pass it on to another department. I asked if the other department could be made aware that I am bankrupt because I'm fed up of ringing them. He said he would make a note but couldnt promise anything.
Now I know I should really contact the OR's office and inform them, and this is stupid but I don't want to remind them I exist! I keep thinking if I just dont contact them maybe they wont contact me and I can just get on with my life kind of thing. Daft I know but I've felt that way since I became BR. I think the only time I got in touch with them was when I had a payrise, and that was only because I knew I could be in trouble if I didn't tell them, but even then I didn't ring to speak to them, I just sent an email!!
So due to the fact that it doesn't seem my creditors have been officially informed of my bankruptcy again leads me to believe there will be no early discharge for me :( but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway. It's now been 4 months and one day!!

Lloyds TSB will have been notified of your BR by your OR.

If the department that received the notice fails to pass the info on to other sections, or they choose to ignore the info, that is their problem.

If you get continued contact/aggravation from creditors then let your OR know. That's what they are there for and it won't effect your case. Many people who have had creditors DCA's being awkward have received ED. :)

Once you are discharged, make sure you do the 'credit file cleanup' which forces creditors/DCA's to acknowledge that all the debts are discharged/settled.
