  • Oh thats great Claire, i hope you both really enjoy yourselves.
Thats your new bed stuffed for now, but will be worth it when you come back all refreshed and hopefully with a letter from the OR informing you of ED:j

You'll have a lovely time in Tunisia, In my young, free and single days I travelled round it a bit and it's an amazing country with an amazing history.

Still not heard anything from the OR re early discharge. I've stopped thinking about it so much now though to be honest, not through trying to forget either - it just seems to have drifted from my mind which is really good.

I don't think about my bankruptcy at all to much anymore to be honest. I didn't think there would come a day when I didn't think about it every hour but some days I don't think about it at all now. I don't mean that to sound blase at all, it's just my life is so hectic at the moment that I really don't have time to sit and ponder, which is definitely a good thing. I'm one of those people that can drive myself mad just sitting thinking about things and going over "what ifs" in my head.

I'm looking forward to my holiday - it's less than 2 weeks away now. I never thought I'd be able to afford to go on holiday again at one point!

All creditor letters and calls have now stopped, and I know it's a cliche but I no longer dread answering the phone or opening the post. I just wish provident would stop sending me letters offering loans - though I have to say I'm not in the slightest bit tempted.

It's nice not to have the post Christmas debts to worry about to.

All in all I'm getting on with my life and I feel normal again. I was diagnosed with panic disorder 2 years ago and since I declared bankruptcy I've only had 1 panic attack which is amazing (beforehand 2-3 a week sometimes).

I hope this thread helps people to see that bankruptcy isn't something to be afraid of - it can give you your life back.

I called the OR's office last Friday about getting early discharge - I know I probably shouldn't have but I was driving myself mad thinking about it! Spoke to someone in the receivers office first who informed me that my file had indeed been passed over for early discharge. Didn't get to excited at this point as I had been told by someone there before Xmas that I was going to be considered for ED and then heard nothing! Anyway I was transferred to the office that processes ED's and spoke to the most horrible woman - I got the impression that she thought I was trying to get ED so that I could go out and get more credit. I informed her that that was most definitely not the case - I don't want another credit card or loan ever again thanks very much! I felt I had to be "nice" to her really - anyone else who'd have spoken to me the way she did would have been told where they could stick their comments! Anyways once I had convinced her I wasn't asking for that reason she seemed ok, she told me that there had been a delay in the receiver sending my file through to them but she wouldn't tell me what the delay was about - whether it was to do with me or their office - it made me sweat a bit! But then said she would be sending the paperwork out to me - and I've just spent the last few minutes filling it in! I shall be sending it back tomorrow. To be honest I'm a bit worried - when I submitted my SOA for BR I was in a deficit each month - can't remember exactly how much but it was definitely a deficit. Now I'm £72 in SURPLUS every month. Yes that's right - me the bankrupt has money left. WHOOOOOOO!! But if they do disallow anything at this stage (has anyone had that happen to them at the ED stage?) then that could take me over the surplus for an IPA. I've stretched things as far as I can (added on extra for petrol and food since the prices have gone up recently) but I've had 2 good payrises this year so that's where the extra cash has come from.

I'm finally off on my hols tomorrow - feels like ages since I booked it! We re leaving my house at midnight tomorrow and flying early hours Sunday morning. I can't wait, I feel like I deserve a rest at the moment, I've worked so hard recently! TUNISIA HERE I COME!!!!

See you all in a week or so!

  • Hi Claire,
My OH got his ED papers to fill in the end of last month, and we went from having a deficit pre BR to having a whole £77 surplus each month, Im waiting with 'baited breath' to see if anything comes of it as I have upped our rent (this was done by local council estate manager as there is arrears , in my name only), .........just hoping I haven't 'talked' it up now  ..................................anyway, have a good holiday, fingers crossed we have our first holiday in OCT, ..........such a long way away!
  • have a great holiday :) i could be wrong but i thought an IPA was only considered if you had more than £99 per mth surplus?
