Just a thought.... Our cat must be a hefty 5kg plus and she has a habit to come to the bed and lay on top of you - it does not matter which way you are lying. Usually she comes to bed when we do, but then jumps off after about 15min - before coming back again in the early morning hours. However, last night she spent the whole night with us in bed, making it very uncomfortable (not enough space). Lying there awake while both OH and the cat were SNORING I thought I can't be alone.... there must be fellow sufferers... and no, I don't have a heart to kick her off.

Our cat has slept on the bed since his first night with us. I tried to keep him out for about an hour but he soon won me round and he's been there ever since. OH and I usually end clinging to opposite sides of the bed while the cat's sprawled out in the middle with plenty of space.

Wouldn't have it any other way though :)

Same here but we've got two - 9 times out of 10, the female cat comes to bed with us and jumps up for cuddles on my chest for about 15 - 30 mins before we turn over and go to sleep.

I'm a bit vertically challenged so there's room at the end of the bed just past my feet and quite often, our two cats (one of whom is 7kgs!) often rush to get the best spot as they are less likely to be kicked in the night.

I'll frequently wake up in the night to find the female on top of my back or snuggled up next to me or sometimes, even in bed with us.

The male monster cat will often snuggle up on the floor next to us at either side of the bed if he doesn't get "top spot"

No dogs on the bed as they stay in front room.

I normally end up with one or several of the 9 kitty cats on the bed at different points in the night.

My little Abby likes to get under the covers with me and makes a little cave and little Lillith has to sleep between someones legs otherwise she won't settle

I love having them on the bed as OH works away and it's nice to have a warm body near you

No dogs on my bed until around 6am when the youngest comes up for a cuddle and to remind me to get up!
    Nice to save.

We never planned to share our bed with the cats but at the moment there is no way of shutting them downstairs so they wander up when it suits them. One will sleep between me and Hubby, one will sleep occasionally on my pillow and a third will sleep wherever she likes and will hiss if you dare to turn over and disturb her!

I woken up in some very uncomfortable positions due to the cats and Hubby usually ends up clinging on for dear life as the cat who sleeps between us often stretches out and kicks him over :D

Yes; I can't sleep without her; I have dreadful insomnia and the sound of doggy-breathing/snoring is very relaxing for me!
  • Our 2 cats are feeling particularly dejected at the moment bless them as they've been shut out of our room since lo arrived. Previously they always slept in our room, and it makes me feel a bit guilty for being so soft on them for their first 7 years, but until dd is in her nursery rather than the crib in our room, we daren't risk it. It's not that we think they would intentionally harm the baby, far from it, but they do like to snuggle in and have been used to climbing all over us. At 10 weeks, dd isn't quite big enough for that yet.

No pets now, but when I had a cat and a dog we would all curl up together on my double bed, and I'd wake up with cat and dog snuggling into me and gradually pushing me further and further to the edge. They were great characters, and I miss them.
