  • Right I paid another £30 off of Sony before I had time to think about it. Also had a look at my supplies cupboard. I have done a menu plan up until next Friday. That'll suffice just now. I'll look at it again come next week. I need a few things at the supermarket but not very much. Should be under £20 this week. x

Righto, new year and change of plan for me!

On New Year's Eve I paid off my overdraft, meaning I only have £18 to last till 15th, but I will knuckle down good and proper.

I'm in the lucky position of having all my debt at 0% forever and I have started putting away next year's uni fees so I won't have to borrow again in September.

My main focus is now going to be to fill my sealed pot for the wedding (also in Sept) and save up the balance between what the wedding is likely to cost and the amount we're getting from parents.

So, rather than busting my gut to reduce the 0% debt, I am going to bust a gut to save up a tidy little sum. I am aiming for £400 in the sealed pot and at least £125 a month to go towards the wedding. I can't make any more on ebay as I have sold anything that isn't nailed down. I reckon I'll aim for £1500 by Sept, give or take a bit and bearing in mind that nearer the time I'll have to fork out for more wedding stuff.

Will have to have a head scratch about where I can cut back even more.

    BOGIES!!
  • wow@ you. Saving huh?? Show off :rotfl: . I didnt realise the wedding was this year. You must be getting excited. Use the knowledge you have gained from here to cut the costs and you wil still have a fab day. I was talking tosomeone last night and they were telling me about a couple who were splitting up after spending £21k on a wedding  . I thought that was bad enough until someone else said they had friends who split after 4 months and had spent £35k. No wonder they split up. They were probably up to their eyeballs in debt. Dont do it........... get married of course but dont do the daft debt thing to pay for it. x

£35k - for 4 months!!!!! Oh well, makes me feel better for not putting up much of a fight against booking a last minute holiday for £240. :o I could have lived without it but OH gets really down in winter and was desperate for some sun (I don't think his light box is quite doing the trick:rolleyes: ). Right now I'm see-sawing between thinking 'it's ok, I'm not getting further into debt because of it, it's been 2 years since we've been away, and it's the cheapest time of year to go', and thinking 'oh bl**dy hell, I only set myself a target a couple of days ago and I've blown it already, I shouldn't have bothered'. Would also have liked to have lost a stone before venturing anywhere near a bikini again.

At least there's enough in the penny jar to pay for transport to and from the airport, but if the weather is rubbish I'm demanding a refund:cool:

lol MIT, nosey away - but you're first suspect if I get burgled:p

Off to Maspalamos, Gran Canaria on 21st Jan for 7 nights. Weather at this time of year is a bit unpredictable, sunbathing quality one minute, tropical downpour the next, and the nights are brassic (not good news when all the bars seem to be outside). I've never had a proper sunny foreign holiday so have to admit I'd rather go somewhere with guaranteed warm days and nights, but that would mean either the carribbean or go at a different time of year - neither of which we can afford:( . The basic price was £211 from Cosmos but we've paid £12 for inflight meals (not very MS but when I've smelt them being dished out I've always been glad I've ordered them), and £18 for transfers between the airport and resort. The bus would have been a bit cheaper but I could do without the extra hassle. I'm always grumpy as hell until I'm sat on the plane and know I haven't missed it - I swear I'm phobic about it:o xx

  • Aww have a smashing time. I wont burgle you honest ( just sell the info to the bad boys;) ) Hopefully the weather will be good to you. Snow is piling up here at the minute .
Would have been another no spend day here today but had to buy sudafed and paracetamol as DD and I have a howling snottery cold. YUk!! Back at work as well so I have really struggled.
I think I might have made things a bit tight again for myself this month by being overenthusiastic with my overpayments but sod it I am chuffed the way things are going so far. xx

Me too MIT, I have illnessess too.
I have a sore throat, and aching limbs, been off work today.
Entered loads of comps whilst lying on the settee with my tartan blanket.

Snow has fallen here too today, but forecast says it won't be here tomorrow.

    xx
  • I have a sore throat too and I have resorted to stcking a hankie up my nostril as I am fed up blowing my nose lol. I am lying here like a dying swan. Except more ugly duck than swan lol

Lots of snow forecast for here unfortunately. With any luck I wont be able to go to work tomorrow x

I'm sure your'e not an ugly duckling MIT. :D

I haven't got the sniffles yet, just a sore throat, I sound like a cross between Rod Stewart and Bonnie Tyler. ;)

Just listing on ebay, need to get rid of some bags before I buy new ones to sell.
Also having a little clearout of things I don't wear or have never worn.
Got a few pair of shoes to go on.

Feels good to get rid of stuff at last.
