  • £55 for laptop cable today but I cant do without my computer for long. I prefer the comp to the telly tbh. Could have got it for £46 from the manufacturer but it takes 4 weeks for it to be delivered and I need the support of this forum to keep me on the straight and narrow so I justified the extra cost to myself as no doubt over the next few weeks I will save more than that.
I called up about my secured loan today as I wanted to find out how much I still owed. I so wish I hadn't bothered. I feel mugged by the building society yet again. I have paid over £3k to the loan and only £600 has come off the debt. Makes me want to puke but also gives me mega drive and determination to get rid of it ASAP. Will call tomorrow and see what the result is for the car and get the both of them onto my snowball. Debt free date will be in about 40 years lol but I want to know exactly when it is so I can update my siggy and try and reduce it. Can't wait to get started again when I get paid. I feel all lightbulbish again :rotfl:

  • I have just done a rough snowball for all my debts and OMG I owe over £40k including my secured loan. I feel sick. Snowball says I need to pay £725 per month just to service them. I have probably been paying that anyway but it is so scary seeing it down in black and white

  • hi bird, it might sound daft but you'll be glad that you've done the sums - that'll totally focus your efforts in 2008.
i was going to say "refocus" but thats not right - you've been a star so far and i'm well impressed. you've kept up the dfw way and have still had a bloody good time. and your kids are having a wicked time by the sounds of it.
    can't knock that at all.

i am going to start muting the tv now cos its making me nauseous. there's all these sale ads on - save 50% when you do this this and this.

why not save 100% and NOT BUY IT!!!!

Then the new moneysupermarket ad has used a pregnant woman to advertise loans and credit cards!!! am i alone in thinking thats a bit irresponsible?

    rant over, for now.

    Hi All,

I hit the shops today and bought nothing!!! There was nothing i truely wanted so i didnt get anything! I have to take the gift i bought my mum back tomorrow as it isnt any good. I bought her one of the tefal quick cups (the kettle that makes tea in 3 seconds) but it doesnt boil the water so you have a lukewarm cup of tea so looks like she will just have to have a regular kettle and wait for it to boil.
SOunds like you had a lovely christmas mit. I want a wii so badly i had to stop myself buying one on christmas eve!!

Anyways better go and get some sleep

It sounds like you are having your LBM all over againg doing all those sums, the only thing i dont include in my SOA is my overdraft, if no idea why not. i guess i just figure that it will be cleared with my last debt payment, its prob backwards logic but never mind. My min payments are around the £700 mark, its so scary.

Cant believe the cost of your lap top cable, with my old lap top i bought a replacment off ebay, im sure its half the reason i had to replace the thing, it just kept overheating, so you have prob done the right thing buying a better one.

  • ok I have done the new signature and although very scary it is doable and I should be debt free other than actual mortgage by 2013. Just in time for DD starting college/ university or whatever. She will be 18 then so very very good timing to get debt free as I would love to be able to help her and then 4 years later help DS also so that they wont start their adult lives with student loans coming out their ears. I will advise them to stooze with the money though:D . The plans are whirring around my mind but the first one is to start again and get rid of this little lot. First target is to get under 40k by end of February. £2000 in 2 months is a big ask but I am going to really really try and do it.Will start rewriting my spending diary today and that will get me going. Back to doing a budget for food also and going to cut that to £200 per month and again really really try and manage that.

Had to buy 2 tyres today and get a slow puncture sorted. £97 in all but hopefully that'll do the car for a while (except tax is due end of January). I have about £35 to do me over the weekend but hopefully will not need to buy much as going out to friends tonight for dinner and to my mums tomorrow. Will go to the butchers tomorrow for some meat and get some potatoes and dont think I actually need anything else so I should manage on that as I get paid on Monday.
Am excited again and away to do January's budget. It'll be tight but I am one determined woman lol xx

You are all doing well avoiding the sales. I was never one for going to them anyway as I have never had any money in January so no real hardship to me. Here's to 2008 girls.

Here's to 2008 MIT  , and for me finally being DF (even though it presently feels ridiculously unattainable - despite being down to less than £900 of debt left). I also want to put as much money as possible into my ISA before the end of this financial year so no January sales for me :(

  • Good luck Red I hope you manage it. I sincerely wish I had £900 to pay off rather than the whack I do have but ho hum I obviously thought I was a rich !!!!! for a wee while and spent accordingly so need to pay the price now. One thing for sure, I'll never do it again. Hopefully none of us will xx
