    :)

Have you bought all your christmas pressies now? Made your list?

Although I think I budgeted for Christmas, I am using it as an excuse to spend far too much money I feel - good that others are feeling like that!

You're certainly not the only one. And as well as never sticking to the budget I set myself for buying presents for others - I always seem to find some justification for buying myself the odd present while I'm at it!

I have been buying presents during the year, but haven't really got a proper idea of what is still left to buy. I am sort of doing the head in the sand thing over Christmas........not a good idea!

  • Hi folks. Going to have a look tomorrow night and make a list of still to buy stuff. Got my huge delivery today and have run out of space to put it away  . Told the kids that I will NOT be shopping for next couple of weeks so when the snacky type things are done then too bad. I am in the mood again to save some money so they better beware.
Been painting today. Just some of the skirting boards to get done and then I can start papering. Didn't get the flooring today as I am a bit worried about getting laminate as I am really unlucky with leaking washing machines. Going to wait until I get paid and get linoleum instead and pay cash for it instead of putting it onto my card. My DD has been having a moan tonight about the fact that all her clothes are hand me downs or from ASDA. She is always beautifully dressed so not as if she looks like a poor wee soul but I am feeling a tad guilty as she is right and I hardly ever buy her or DS clothes. I just can't do it. Her crowd of friends all seem to have plenty of money in their families. Own horses, great big houses etc. but we dont. I hate snobbery and being designer label conscious so she better snap out of it and start being proud of who she is or I will be having a ding dong with her.
Hypno you are saving so hard for the skiing thing that you just cant do it all. It always works out though doesnt it. The kids will have gifts on Christmas morning and we will be fed and watered.
Ok my ironing is calling so I better move my bum and get it done. Then get the pieces made for tomorrow and get back on the straight and narrow.

DS is getting his CT results tomorrow so I am a wee bitty nervous ( ok I want to puke) He will get a hearing test as well so I will let you all know how he gets on. Bye for now x

MiT, we had laminate in our old kitchen and although I like the look of it it gets grubby reall quick.
When we did our bathroom I wanted the laminate type look and found that we were able to get a wood floor for not too much more than the laminate. It isn't solid wood but a veneer.
It's been down for over a year now and has aged really well. It does scratch but that doesn't seem to matter with wood like it did with the laminate.
We sealed it with yacht varnish which is expensive but very good for water repellance!
It may be something for you to look into?
I find homebase is one of the more expensive DIY sheds, have you tried B&Q or Screwfix or any of the big builders merchants?
I would recommend them for cheaper prices.
Good to see you're getting on ok. TTFN, Kaz.
BTW, good luck for you and DS tomorrow.

  • Thanks for the good wishes folks. I am totally stressed out about going and probably no need for it.
Kaz I just cant afford anything too expensive just now and my kitchen is a big dining kitchen so would cost a fortune. Sounds lovely though and just what I would like if I had the cash. Think vinyl will have to do for just now. x

Hi MIT. sounds like you are having a stressful time at the minute. Thinking of you and your son, hope the ct results are ok.

It is so hard for every dfw at this time of year. even though i have kept to my budget for presents ive bought un-necessary bits of food in marks. and its just been so hard to resist not buying those extra bits you see while wandering round the shops. you are doing really well even if it doesnt feel it right now. try stay positive, we are all in this together.

  • Woohoo  :j . Son has migraine related vertigo. You may think it odd that I am celebrating but in comparison to it being a brain tumour I am one happy lady. I just feel like melting into a puddle with relief. Nothing else matters at the moment except the racket he is making is doing my nut in :rotfl: . I've had another day where I have wasted about a tenner. Raffle tickets in work, dinner money for the kids and sandwiches and cake for me. Am going to cook some chicken now for dinner and make sandwiches for tomorrow whilst it is cooking.
    I'm soooooooooooo happy xxx
