Hi, That programme Secret Millionaire is really good.
It's about Millionaires who go under cover and live in a house among poorer people.
They have a small budget to spend on food etc, and make friends in the neighbourhood.
The other people have no idea they are millionaires.
Then later on they admit it and pick out certain people they think will really benefit from their money.
They gave away £5,000 - £15,000 per person and usually pick about 3-4 people.
It makes me cry everytime.
Watching programmes like that makes me feel better , there always someone worse off than me.
:money: Thanks Martin, we have missed you.0 -
ah yes I have seen it advertised but havent watched it yet Binnie
Right my summerhouse is up and looking great. DD is dead excited and has been working on the flooring and the walls for 2 days now. Handyman only took £90 from me for building patio and the summer house . I was sitting with £300 and I was sweating incase it was more lol. Did I pay the rest of it off my debt?? Nah cos you werent all here to tell me that so I just spent it !!. Never mind it has been donkeys ages since I did anything like that so I am not going to beat myself up about it. We had a nice time shopping without penny pinching and we had a chippy tea. Back on the straight and narrow now mind you. Got £70 between Amazon and e-bay and paid a years card protection. I am trying really really hard to pay all my insurances yearly rather than monthly so that I free up some monthly cash and I dont pay the insurance companies any interest. Eventually I will set up a separate account to budget in advance for these things but not an option just now. I have my car insurance next month too and started looking at the cash back I can get etc for the best deal and want to pay that cash as well. No pressure huh!! So glad to be back on here. xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

HI mit, glad your summer house is looking good. ive started an account for those yearly items that i can never quite find the money for, next year im hoping to add my car and house insurance to it so i can pay those in advance too. for this year they will still be by direct debit.
So glad we have our site back again, i think we all went off the wagon a little. oh well, back to it i guess.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Hiya Mit & Lunar,
It has given me the willpower after reading on here to try and be good. I cut up two credit cards last week and even though I only owe £88 on one card, I managed toi pay about £25 off it. Once that is paid off I will close that account and the minimum payment which was £5 will go towards the next card.
Then I paid an extra £20 off Egg yesterday, I bet they almost fainted when they saw the extra payment, I always pay the minimum normally.
I still have HSBC with over a £1,000 on it and Lloyds TSb with ermmm, too much on it.
But I feel more confident and more motivated to keep doing it.
I'm trying to think, if I can't afford it, then I can't have it.:D
Got another interview tomorrow at the same place as the last two. One day they will give me a job. it has cost me £15 in bus fares for these interviews and everytime I have to fill an application form in even though they have my CV and have been the week before for a different department, .
I might just take my tent and camp out there until they say yes.

:rotfl: I must admit Lunar it made me feel good too, as though I had achieved something so small, but good for me. :rotfl:
Now my next thing is to get this damn job, I must be losing my touch. When I was younger I used to always get the job I went for, but maybe I'm too over confident at the interview or sound desperate. :rotfl:

Binnie I love making overpayments as well. I love putting them onto my snowball and seeing whether it reduces my debt free date. Good luck with the interview. I really hope you get it. I have gone over by £4 on my bank account this month for a day  . I hope I dont get any charges as it was really silly of me to allow this to happen. I will argue with them if I get a charge lol. Ok need to do my taxi run to dancing with DD and collect DS from his pals. Laters x5 Year plan.
