the company i work for now took me on as work experience when i was 15, i didn't get paid but i stayed on after my two week placement going in on days i was off school or college. they remembered me 10 years later and now i've got my own secretary! i still have no money though!!!!
like Mit said, its worth getting any job to get on the career ladder - and discounts rock!0 -
Hiya Tif,
Yes it's true you have to start somewhere. But because I have had low paid wages for most of my working life, I then had two jobs which were fairly well paid, well £6 an hour upwards, but now I can't find any in that bracket and have to drop down to minimum wage again. I thought I was getting somewhere at last, and at the grand old age of 45, I think I deserve £6 an hour plus as I have worked hard to even get to that.
Trouble is getting used to a certain rate per hour meant I was used to that sort of income and lived up to it. Now I'm stuck with being unempoyed and having to take a minimum wage.
I will be worse off than many years ago and have to work harder for it.
I think it's such a struggle living on minimum wage and everybody should be paid £6 an hour or more.
The place I have applied at where I have an interview tomorrow doesn't pay well even when you are a boss, but not even sure if I would want that responsibility.
I have decided if I get offered it, I will take it, then I can always look round for something more suited to what I really want.
I really want another admin/office job as I enjoy doing that, but theres far too many people applying for the same jobs around here so keep getting turned down.
I must admit my self esteem is a bit low at the moment, I keep thinking I'm too old, or too rubbish.0 -
oi !! I am 42 and still a young un lol
You really need to get back out to work Binnie just to build your confidence if nothing else. Even minimum wage is better than benefits. That plus your e-bay sales should make a decent income. Well done on todays sales btw. You have some lovely bags. When I am not so skint I might buy a couple lol. Will pass on your e-bay ID to my pals though in the meantime. Well done on cutting up the cards.

If it helps you to get through it mit then I would get unsecured debt free, then go for the car loan, then the secured loan. It's all about breaking it up into manageable chunks and your car loan will be finished quite soon won't it? After all it's less than 4 years now. Keep bashing at it and it will go!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

Thanks Mit.
I don't feel old as I am daft as a brush, but sometimes people don't see my humour as good and think I'm too silly.
Maybe I come across like that at interviews.
Thanks for looking at my bags, I can't remember having a tidy house anymore, they are taking over.
xx
Going to bed now, early night for me as I need my beauty sleep to impress them at that interview.0 -
grrrrrrrrrrrr my computer got a huge virus. I have had to take it back to factory settings and have lost loads as I havent backed up for a couple of weeks ( stupid me). Hello there.....Thank god this is back on. I have not been able to get on using my lappy anyway as I had a virus and just got it sorted tonight but kept checking on DS's computer to see what was going on. I cant believe this. It just shows what a threat Martin's advice is.
I really need this site. I need to confess my spending and it keeps me on track. I have spent like a woman with no arms this weekend.
