  • I was being supercook this morning and grrrr I have messed up. Made choc chip cookies and followed a recipe on here. It said on recipe use 1 tbsp baking powder and I took that to be a tablespoon. I think it may have been a teaspoon as all I can taste from them is the baking powder. Bleugh!!!

Made caramel shortcake for the first time though and it looks amazingly yummy. Not good for the old diet I'm afraid but yum yum.

    Hi MIT

Are you off work today, seeing as you are baking?

    Von
  • yep. Have been off for a couple of weeks now. I think I am going back next week. I have just had a rough time recently due to DS being ill etc and a couple of weeks ago I reached saturation point and just said F it I'm having a couple of weeks off. Have done nothing and totally relaxed. Feel so much better now. Going to go and stick a loaf in the breadmaker now and get some bread into the freezer.

Hope things get better for you soon, MIT.

How do you get on with the bread maker? I had one, but didn't really like it or the bread.

  • Heres a good tip.

    Get a tupperware box,
    Fill it with water,
    Place credit card it,
    Put in freezer.

If you wanted to use it you will need to wait 12 hours for it to defrost first!!!

Sorry if this has already been answered, but I thought this was a great (and funny!) suggestion, but was wondering whether there wasn't a risk of damaging the microchip in the card? Anyone been (un)fortunate and tried it out?
  • Loads of folks have done it toodlepip. There have been disasters when trying to defrost ie. melted in microwave but I havent heard anyone saying the chip is damaged. I gave mine to my mum to keep for me. She's more secure than any freezer. x

I am mega peed off. My ex left me with thousands of pounds of debt and I paid off the majority of what he left me. There was a bit left for council tax and I told them to pass it onto my ex as he was jointly responsible for it. I got a letter today saying it was still owed. I last paid money towards it in 2003 and I assumed he had paid the rest. I should have known better. They wont even confirm whether or not he has been sent a letter too. I could just cry but I think I will eat cake and drink wine instead.

  • vonph we all love the bread. There are a couple of downsides though. I am hopeless at cutting it and we end up with huge slices. Also the hole in the bottom of the loaf annoys me and when it is hot I always burn my fingers as I cannot wait until it cools to eat it :-)
