My road to being a millionaire - I wish

i must admit i've been the same, keep buying crisps and chocs at uni - and bottled water!!!! idiot!!!!
my mum and dad did deliveries when we were younger to get extra cash, i think it was when my dad was made redundant. they had to deliver free samples of dove soap (little bars that weighed 40g each). but carrying a couple of hundred plus the leaflets was backbreaking.
the agent in charge told us that we didn't have to deliver to places with dogs or if they had low letter boxes, or those old metal ones that snap your fingers off. needless to say we had tons of dogs and low letterboxes on our route (wink wink).
we ended up quitting but the woman didn't want the samples back. they got donated to tombolas for years to come and given in gift hampers. lasted for about 4 years! i still only use dove soap except clinique on the owd face!0 -

lol @ you. I love dove soap but only buy it now and again as a treat. I buy other soap mind you I'm not a smelly minger;) .
My pals are going to Turkey with their families next year and asked me. I have said no but I wish to hell they would urry up and book it cos I am starting to crumble lol. I dont have £2k to go on a holiday for gawds sake. Even found myself sitting working out what I would need to save each month to be able to go. Am I off my head ??? I think so. I have never saved in my life so no doubt would end up getting a loan to go. That aint going to happen OH NO5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

I was naughty and didnt go to SW tonight, mainly because i have been poorly all week and being poorly makes me eat lots of naughty things, doughnuts biscuits chocolate etc etc.
£2K for a holiday how are they getting there rocket?? I went to Turkey last year and it was only £350 and we got to stay in a lovely hotel. If i had someone to go on holiday with i would go back but being single is the hard thing!!!

m-i-t good luck with those Directories! I delivered Yellow Pages this summer, it's gruelling, isn't it? We borrowed a trolley thing from the Newsagent but even so we could only carry 18 at a time so it took hours.
Oh well, it seemed worth it when the cheque eventually arrived. We had a different type of round from you though - part of it very rural so we had half a mile walk around the lanes to find each property. And LOTS of dogs!
Good luck with it!
And you're right - dont even think about Turkey. save it for when you're debt free.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Well I've finally decided that I need to join you all on the road to becoming debt free. My situation is one that doesn't warrant sympathy but all advise is greatfully received. After ending a long relationship that turned quite sour and landed me with quite a large credit card/loan debt I have married my new partner (but still have some of the debt from before £8k in all-old partner lost his job and I ended up paying for everything).
New partner is not aware of this and I feel sick of the though of being found out. Basically of the stance that I got myself into it, i'll get myself out. I also am trying to counsel myself out of the seen it want it gotta have it train of thought!..
Your forums and threads have given great insparation and I look forward to chatting to you all and becoming debt free myself and having a full nights sleep.:D:j PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT :j0 -
Hi, sorry ive not weighed in for a while, had a short break away, ate to much but did loads of walking too, total lost is 6lbs, not brilliant i know but at least its in the right direction! not sure it will stay that way though, my OH came home with a huge chocolate cake last night that he got given as a thankyou at work!!! its sat taunting me even at this time in the morning.
lilmissspendaholic, have a look at some of the other diaries too and think about posting your SOA, you will get loads of support on here, its amazing how you can slep at night when you have a plan of how you can fix the debt problems. i will look forward to reading your posts.
Dee, well done on staying out of debt, and thats a really nice thing you are doing giving your family a holiday, i would love to do that for my parents when im out of my debt and have saved up!
Tif, ive been buying bottled water from the machine at work when there is a perfectly good chilled wter fountian, why do we waste money on such uneconomical items.
mit, well done on the extra money from the car boot and thompson directories, dont feel too bad about the mortgage, at least its fixed now and you know how much you will pay each month, no more nasty suprises to come.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
hi girls.
did i mention that i called my bank to reduce my overdraft facility and the woman on the phone laughed at me when i explained that i didn't want to keep getting charged for spending the banks money!!
i have been in my overdraft for 7 years now and i'm determined to get rid of it. it used to be free (the bank didn't realise i wasn't at uni any more and gave it to me for free for 5 years! now i get charged).
i want to break free!0 -
I AM KNACKERED!!!!!!!!!
I tell you delivering these phone books is not an easy way to make cash. I have worked solidly today between normal job and deliveries. Going to my bed really soon as i have a 7.30 start tomorrow as my flexi is shockingly bad and I need to make up some time. Kids are off tomorrow so they are staying over at my mums. I need, need, need to get some shopping done as i keep buying fast food. I am spending way too much on it.
Sea how much did you get per book for yellow pages. I think I am getting 8p. Thomson directories are quite light though in comparison to yellow pages.
Littlemiss you are more than welcome to join us. Inspiration at its best in the debt free forums.
Lunar I hope you had a nice break and tifn good for you with overdraft. I am leaving my o/d until last but I will get mega satisfaction when I get rid of it. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sleeping now xxxx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
