melly - your arrangement probably wont fit on the coffin in the hearse - and the funeral directors tend to 'arrange' floral tributes themselves. Yours is so beautiful and distinctive it wouldn't matter where they put it. People are going to notice that!
Mel - I love black and white cats! First cat was a British Shorthair Black and White (Moggy). I have fond memories of him even if the kids don't! and your cat is very sweet. and yes he probably is on his best behaviour. but, he too has lost a loved one. and is about to lose his home (and home is very important to cats).
Had a chat with Atrix about rehoming cat with you and your dogs - he wasn't too optimistic as I think they are Jack Russels? BUT, dogs are dogs and once the dogs realise that the cat is now part of the family - they will live together.
been thinking about how to introduce them - shutting cat in another room could result in the dogs going nuts outside the door. the dogs will be aware of the cat as they will have 'smelled' him on you and may well accept the cat quite readily.
I would use a baby gate they cant get through, but can see and smell the cat through. give the cat a 'high place' to retreat to - and let him meet one dog at a time. watch carefully, and any sign of aggression remove the cat. its the dogs home and they will be possessive of it. so don't remove the dog.
I am optimistic that as they are familiar with the cats scent - they will accept the cat. especially if they associate said cat with TREATS!

Yes, this is what Atrix said! 'Prey'! but, I say, the dogs are used to the scent of cat on you and OH. its not as if you suddenly went out and brought home a 'strange cat'. this cats' smell has been on you for a long time. They WILL be curious and eager to meet the 'smell' in person. Slowly, and with sensitivity to both dog and cat needs - I think YOU can do it melly. Hell, my first cat terrorised all the dogs in the street - but we introduced a puppy into the home without WW3 breaking out!

OH may find that if his mum prepaid her funeral - she also left instructions. Aunt may 'think' she is calling the shots - but your MIL may have pre-empted her.
My OHs uncle went up funeral directors and paid for his funeral when he knew he had X months to live - he left specific instructions. one of which was that his beloved dog attend. he specified hymns and exactly how he was to be buried. his daughters and son had no input at all! except for the eulogies.

I hope she has meritaten. I would love to *see* the smile wiped off Aunts face. I have no idea what possesses people to behave the way Aunt and SIL have. Utterly shameful.

Have been brushing them all with the same brush to get the smells mingling. Think jealousy from my girl might be the biggest issue she doesn't do sharing of me.

Just gotta get funeral out of the way then can have nothing more to do with them can't wait.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Hugs

I suggest that you try and hang on and find any scrap of humour.

Good luck with HSE - and I think I would tell OH that while he has his troubles, you have yours and you haven't room for tantrums until at least 8pm so could he save them up.
