Is MIL actually in the hospice? Or at home?

What does she feel when told that all the jewelry has been taken?

That's awful melly - to steal off a dying woman. mind you, they probably thought it was their inheritance and were making sure nobody else got the chance to take it. Barstewards!
even after all you have told us about the family, I feel shocked at this and cant help feeling sorry for the woman.

Agreed safeguarding are the first port of call. Do you think there is any chance of getting her to agree to talk to the police?

Or do you think an intervention might result in someone acknowledging that they have it "for safekeeping"?

Does MIL have a will by the way?

    No will.

Here is the plus point to no key.

I don't know about the police, I'm coming at it more from the what else are they doing standpoint

Seems to me that right now he is the only reliable factor in her life. He counts.

She asked him what he wanted from the things that she holds dearest. That does count.

That he asked for a piece of low monetary value with sentimental value says everything about him? Got his head screwed on the right way but also does not have a high opinion of himself.

Not surprised the vultures have him and mum thinking they are mad; their values are so distorted it is hard to understand.

    barstewards definately.

oh chuck. I did not want to make him cry. Give him mega (((((hugs))))).

He needs to remember that he is the sane one around there (and you); but that is really hard when you are surrounded by people who would recognise know truth or honesty it is hit them in the face.

Living with people with distorted values is crazy-making but that does not make you anything other than sane.

I would suggest speaking to the hospice. They will have seen the good and the bad of many end of life situations and they will no doubt have some experience. I am sure they will have some ideas where you can go.

I also suggest that you speak to MacMillan and get support for your OH as soon as you can. This must be shredding him.

Sending huge hugs to you both.
