Just had a thought......how can we ever believe Shell again? The OP took a considerable risk in believing the pump they were using actually had the fuel it said it had.

From now on I shall be very careful as to the fuel type for the pump I use as the fuel type sign is a lot smaller than A4.... if it were larger of course I would have no problem beliving it.

God help the person behind the counter if the OP ever fills the car with the wrong fuel!!!

I long for the day when my life becomes so carefree and stress free that I can throw a tantrum just like this one when some total non-event happens to me, but for now I will worry about things that actually matter.

Till man at my local Shell is very polite. I went to fill up at 5am day after new years day and went to the window to pay as shop is closed at that time. I forgot my Drivers Club card so he advised that he had given me the points and to phone up number on receipt to have them added. :)

This is the funniest thing I've read all day :rotfl:

When I go past my local shell garage later on I shall duly warn all of the drivers filling up in there....

....and then I'll be sectioned under the mental health act. Which incidentally does exist...

well thankyou for your oh so sarcastic responses. bet you think your so big behind the computer screen well how about you come say it to my face. shell were rude to an elderly lady, didnt help that the worker barely spoke english.

a friend of mine owns a conservatory business and has told me it is actually the law to display a list of payment methods at the point of purchase. a cheap a4 sign is not enough.

OMG you think 62 is ELDERLY!!!!

You are aware that workers now have to work until their 67...how in earth will they manage if they are so elderly :rotfl:

I work with someone who is older than your Mum and would be horrified to be called elderly!

i will ask my friend again if it was the trading standards act he meant. he owns a very well known company. he told me that you must make available the means of payment at the purchasing point, on either a plastic or metal plate in one of only a few legal fonts. a printed piece of a4 is not enough, it has nothing to do with the size. this is displayed in all respectable shops.

the fact is the shell staff were still rude and could not see common sense. they should have shut the petrol station if they were unable to accept payments.

Tesco must be breaking the law. and every other fueling station. They don't have the plastic or metal plates. Just stickers.
