I don't see why this is such a massive problem tbh.
My best friend of 16 years (I like to say closest friend as it makes me feel more grown up) and I are absolutely crap at birthdays. A text is as good as it gets. She's lucky if she gets her text on the actual day as I can never remember if it's the 12th or 16th and I'm always away for my birthday as it's in the middle of summer!!!
This absolutely does not mean that we don't care about each other, we have supported each other through thick and thin, it's just that we are both date deliquent and there are more important things that show us how much our friendship means to each other.
I would seriously forget about it, life is too short to get hung up on a card that will only land up in a recycling center!0 -
I find this whole thread odd
To me a "best" friend (I too say "closest" as it doesn't sound like I'm under 14) is someone I can talk to about anything.....who doesn't throw a fit because I don't send her a bit of expensive coloured card with an overpriced stamp stuck to the envelope. Who is pleased if I remember to send a PM or text but doesn't think our friendship is over if that's all I do. They also know what is going on in my life and I their's and I would never feel the need to ask strangers about their actions. Frankly you sound like acquaintances not best friends to me. Some friendships last a lifetime- some are for a season- it isn't uncommon for childhood friends to outgrow each other as their lives take different paths. It doesn't mean you have to cut all contact or be upset-just that the bonds loosen.
As a matter of interest how old are you both ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Every year one of my closest friends never gets a birthday card despite her sending me one. I really have no excuse as we share a birthday!0
