I've not had my renewal as yet? I normally have mine by now. I have had checks the last two years. Anyone else still waiting who would of normally had their renewal?
See the OP - if it's past the date for your circumstances give them a ring.

Thanks for replies. Mine took approx 10 weeks as I everything was checked last year but had to send everything from bank statements, childcare receipts, utiiity bills etc.. If its not came by 24th will ring them.
  • My tax credits went into my account today as usual every 4weeks, but it was £200 less?! So I rang hmrc tax credits helpline, and they told me that they are using figures from a 'real time' figure? So apparently we have earned 6k more this yearl I wish! So I told them The figures are wrong, their answer was we have to wait for a letter telling us what they have based this years on, and we cannot do anything until then. This means we cannot pay bills, mortgages this month and they said well nothing we can do! So now just waiting on the postman, to just ring them back and tell them the same information as I just did this afternoon!

A bit late now for you but on last years renewal it usually has payments for 2014-15 provisional payments. Taking account of changes that we can predict.
Then an amount for April then followed by another amount.
I guess this is so the overpay is not too much.
I am wise to this now and make a note of when payments change before new award has gone through.
    Might help others though.
    Back on the trains again!

I don't think so in all cases. I know someone who reported a change of income today. As she had a pension payout or some such last year. Which means her income is a lot lower this year.

Her renewal was issued a week ago, she's still to get it, and she asked about this RTI update. She still has to contact them to renew....and she works for a govt dept.

Think they are just trying it with a few hundred thousand this year to see if it works

I bring a bit stupid but how does real time payee work ? Is that where they just have access to the the end of year p60. Sorry in advance

Previously employers submitted p14s (like a p60) and p35s (overall end of year form) to HMRC at the end if the tax year. Now under RTI an employer makes a return every time they pay so they make weekly/monthly returns online. They are using this info for renewals. It will only work for people who are employed with no other income.

I think the plan is when universal credits comes in, the 2 systems will be linked so they will know straight away what hours you have worked and what your pay is.

Thank you for that actually I remember updating some info with Hr in work in ref to this. So I suppose you wouldn't know his has been done until you get reward through.
