I need to report a small reduction in my childcare costs.. anyone know if I can call them to change now or wait?

I'd rather do it now if they'll let me so if they haven't already produced my renewal pack (not received it) then i can say no changes needed....

So when you call to renew have you never been asked if you have any changes in circumstances to report?

After I am asked for my previous tax year income, yes

Just updated my HMRC app on Android - and there's an option to renew tax credits via that too!

Noticed that too. Getting awful hi-tech this year aren't they?!

Easier for simple claims like mine so we don't have to clutter up the phone lines or depend on the post

Hi, some advice please :) I went from part to full time in mid january. I informed them and over estimated my income by approx 3k for the rest of the last financial year. Now, my actual income for 2014-15 financial year, because of the over estimate, means i'm within the 5k threshold regarding change of income. But in actual fact, because I over estimated, I'm getting 7k more (they did cut my tax credits in accordance to the over estimate). Do I tell them this before I receive my renewal, as I'm terrified of being overpaid  Thanks.

According to the HMRC table detailing when renewals paperwork will be issued, ESA claimants will have theirs by the 13/5. How do they know who is on ESA if you haven't been on the benefit for the whole of the claim period? In our circs I advised early this year Id moved onto cont based ESA which was noted, i.e. cessation in work and they asked for estimate of income split between SE income and ESA for the 13/14 year, but do HMRC have a database link with DWP to see who is still currently on ESA - I know they must have for Self assessment as I've already had that with the reference ESA on it....hoping renewal will arrive sooner rather than later obviously! Has anyone renewed online yet this year?

Do it now if it's gone down over £10, it's a change you must notify them of within a month, see http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/tctmanual/TCTM05100.htm

    Good Afternoon

I have been paid about £700 more then I told the tax credits people for 13/14. Will this go down as a over payment? Or is there a bit of leeway?

    Happy bank holiday weekend everyone!!

Depends. How much different to your 2012/13 income was it? There's a disregard but it applies to the difference in actual income between one year and the next, not to estimates.

It was just under £700 difference from my 2012/2013 income, this will be the first full year of receiving tax credits if that makes a difference.
