I am a neat freak but live with two little boys who are in the process of being trained up to be like me. It is like dragging them through treacle at the moment. Plates, cups, cutlery etc make it near the dishwasher. Clothes are aimed to within yards of the laundry baskets in their rooms. Towels never quite seem to get back on the rail to dry nicely. Don't even get me started on empty toilet rolls being put away and replaced  I bet they finally master the art of being neat and tidy just as they leave home. So it wont even be me that benefits from my input in the end!
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

Did anyone see the comedian a while ago talking about the dishwasher, it went along the line of why does the other half put dishes on the kitchen surface above the dishwasher? You may as well put them in the garden as they won't wash themselves there also!

I live in one of these homes, anyone else lol?

Is it that they are lazy or they just don't "see it" ?

I'd say that if the work is shared equally (cleaning, washing up, laundry, cooking, gardening and any diy), then it's no big deal.
That's what we do, as long as it works out that we all do our fair share, we don't share every single task (e.g. I do most of the washing up and laundry, but I don't do any gardening, because or our personal preferences...).

If it's not shared equally there's a bigger problem IMHO.

OH leaves socks on the floor next to the washing basket, literally touching it. Drives me mad.

My hubby usually leaves his clothes in a heap where he took them off.:(

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I guess I'm a bit old fashioned eg I cook and do washing ironing cleaning etc, he washes the car, puts the bins out, digs the garden, so I guess I do more of the jobs but that doesn't worry me.

It's the just not seeing the obvious that I struggle to understand lol

We have a dishwasher in our work kitchen. It has never been used, we have no instructions so no-one knows how to use it and there are no dishwashing tablets or detergent of any kind anywhere to be found.

And yet, by Friday afternoon, without fail, we find numerous cups, plates and crockery all stacked in the dishwasher. I wouldn't mind but there is a huge notice sellotaped to the dishwasher door stating

"PLEASE NOTE: THIS DISHWASHER IS NOT IN USE"

We often have stuff on top of the dishwasher when it's already full/on/waiting to be emptied. I don't mind really, as long as it gets emptied eventually. What would be great though would be to have two dishwashers and just switch between them. No need to empty the clean one, just take what you want from it, use it then put it in the dirty dishwasher. True laziness!

That's the latest thing to do in small London kitchens. I don't live in London anymore, and my kitchen isn't small, but I'm still considering it!

    Oh I've got another one

Used razors, hubby uses disposable bic razors, I'm not even sure if you use them more than once to shave, he however seems to have a collection on the bathroom sink when the peddle bin is underneath it. I tend to move them onto an empty soap dish next to sink as not sure if "they" are currently in use. When a whole family of bics appear I swoop and they go to peddle bin heaven.

Er, Claire, are YOU my husband??

    :rotfl::rotfl:

Between me and our 16yo daughter we have a half dozen questionable razors lying around the bathroom!

Nahh he works long hours and I don't work at all. He's pretty good at the gardening and the DIY and he pays the household expenses.

The rest I am mostly happy to do. Wish he wasn't such a misery though.:D
