Thehappybutterfly can you hire your hubby out please lol
  • You are not alone, claire21 - I live in one of those homes too - have a regular visitor who does exactly the same :wall:

I love my dishwasher though - always remember that ad years ago showing the horror where someone didn't have one - that would be me :rotfl:
  • My hubby leaves dirty dishes on the worktop instead of putting them in the sink. Drives me potty!
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

Have to say, I wouldn't dream of putting stuff in someone else's dishwasher and wouldn't like people to presume access to mine!

We have no kitchen sink

And do collect stuff on the dishwasher while its washing ( Eco programme is long and I might cook, people drop in for coffee, etc etc )
  • I'm the opposite. I wash it, but never put anything away. I will keep piling it up on the draining board if I Can.

I say the same as an earlier poster - what's the point in putting them in the sink just to be taken out again?!

We don't have a dishwasher unless you count my 22 year old son who is FANATIC about washing dishes! He hates anybody else doing them because he has a "system" that nobody else seems to follow. Cutlery, glasses and cups first. Then cleanish bowls and plates. These then get dried and put away and new soapy water made. Then it's chopping boards, the dirtier plates and bowls, then pots and pans. When anyone else does it, the dishrack is like a game of Jenga or Kerplunk! Pull out the wrong spoon and the whole bloody lot comes crashing down!

    My family is weird.

It is a very close friend who spends quite a bit of time here, I wouldn't expect normal guests to be stacking the dishwasher :)

I did have a dishwasher. It wasn't a full sized one just a table top one. I loved it. Yes it was a pain sometimes if you overloaded it it didn't clean properly. However, it wasn't worth the huge increase in the electricity bill.... and when I say huge, I meant HUGE!

Theres only three of us in the house. My son always washes his own stuff up. He's very good like that. I wash pots and pans, and anything me and my husband use. Apart from dishpan hands its no big deal for me to wash dishes by hand.

Did anyone see the comedian a while ago talking about the dishwasher, it went along the line of why does the other half put dishes on the kitchen surface above the dishwasher? You may as well put them in the garden as they won't wash themselves there also!

I live in one of these homes, anyone else lol?

Is it that they are lazy or they just don't "see it" ?

You don't see it. Dishwasher may be full if clean stuff waiting to be unloaded. Food rests May need to be removed from a plate. There may be some stuff you don't want to put through dishwasher. You may have different preferences as to where you put what.
I hope I have helped a bit in you solving misteries of this world :D
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.
