    Hey all!

So sorry again, and thanks for keeping everything warm. You are all amazing!

I have no real excuses except for being stupidly busy, undergoing unpleasant tests at the hospital and feeling too tired to turn on my computer some nights (unheard of for me!)

I was thinking at the weekend though how I really need to get myself sorted, and better organised. I do a lot, I'm not beating myself up too much, but I'm horrendously bad at time management, and waste a lot of time. I also sometimes try to do too much at once, therefore getting very little done overall as it all becomes overwhelming. Today was going to be my 'new start' but I was ill in the night and this morning, and had to work from home. This isn't bad per se, but it's a bit stressful as I'm not really supposed to do it; I will make up the time properly when I'm feeling better tho.

How is everyone doing? How is life, and the MSE'ing going? I'm going to set aside some time later to have a little read, but apologies if I end up asking stupid questions, or have missed exciting / difficult things. Sending lots of hugs and positive vibes. I've also got tea and coffee on tap, and a catering pack of mixed biscuits for all, although I won't be partaking myself as I'm being good (honest). Although it's been VERY hit and miss, I have lost about 8lbs; a drop in the Ocean, but a good start given the last few weeks.

More later, but I must get my backside in gear to go and make tea for the folks. Meatballs for DH and I are already cooking in the oven :)

    Hi Giblet!

Sorry to hear about the hospital tests. :( I had about 4 years of tests for my illness in the end and it really drains you. Having to see different doctors, needles, and in my case a booth where they remove the oxygen!

I hope you feel better soon. It's frustrating when you decide that tomorrow is a fresh start and then your plans are scuppered by illness.

8lbs is great!! Well done. :T

  • YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

So lovely to see you back. Fingers all crossed that unpleasant tests went as well as they could and you got some answers or at least some horrid things off the list of possibilities!

Well done you to 8lbs loss!! Amazing stuff, considering all you have on, drop in the ocean or not! Have you working heating yet or are you still having naked weekends catching up with the washing? :rotfl:

I am a huge fan of lists. I have steadily gone from dozens of little scribbles down to one coherent notepad (and a bit of overflow onto my diary!) - it helps me cut down on the inactivity and fiddling between jobs while I remember what is next.

We are here as and when you can drop in. Just know we miss you! :) And Dh... How is work? ;) xx

  • Thanks all and sorry to hear about your experiences Amy; sounds horrendous! Hope you're much better now?

    Quick update.....

DH work is great - he's already been asked to do an extra day which will really help, and he's enjoying it.

No heating as yet...plaster trying to dry, but having to use dehumidifier and electric radiator which will cost. Hoping to wait till after decoration to call in the experts, but may have to give in and pay the heating people twice; it's cold tonight and is predicted to get colder!

Both DH and I got CPP refunds, despite sending them in at the very last minute (result!)

Savings for the windows should be complete at the end of this month. We can't really keep up the £500 per month target with the change in circumstances, but are hoping to split perhaps £300 between overpaying and the next savings target (either more decoration, the completion of double glazing, flat roof fund and maybe a little holiday).

Oh...and I still haven't had the refund from travel expenses in April!

Right, brew and bed for me I think. Lovely to 'see' you all again and take care :) x

  • How are you coping? Even I have had to resort to the heating, although just to dry the washing, and then the ridiculous damp is creeping in and the windows are permanently condensation covered. I would actually be out of my mind by now if I were you, especially having plaster drying!

Yay for CPP refunds and the extra day! Hopefully the two help a bit towards plugging the gap!! :D

Rome wasn't built in a day... and you need some heating x

  • Hey gib, great to see you back and that there have been positives while you were missing. Am so relieved the job change was the right move for mr g. I echo lilty though about the heat.

  • Hey,

Thanks again lilty and INOD; we are coping ok so far, but if it descends to -4 as predicted, it will become a case of 'no choice'. The plaster is drying out quite well tbh; the clothes, not so. One load had to go back through again because it smelt of damp after 1 week of not drying on the dryer.

Hope everyone had a good day? We spent yesterday evening catching up with YNAB (just managed to juggle around so that was ok) and today was just crazy busy at work. Came home to a lovely meal cooked by DH according to our meal plan, which felt good to be back on track. Also, managed to do a report and some other work before coming on here, so feeling proud of myself.

    Right, kettle on....

What have you all been up to? Will try and read a bit more tonight :) x

  • Yay for meal planning and DH cooking, bless him!! Not so yay on the washing. Mine goes stale after as little as 2 days so a week to dry, no wonder. You poor things :(.

I don't know if you have this option on your washing machine, but I have all the usual numbers and then 3 letters, A B & C which allow me to rinse, spin, or drain the machine without all the rest. I spin it again after I have done the wash just to suck out any remaining excess water and it has really been helping to get things dry quicker!

I am impressed with all you have managed to do pre MSE today and after work. You must be mentally exhausted.

If it drops to minus ANYTHING needs must. No use catching colds, and then wearing wet clothes on top. Living in a cold damp house is a breeding ground for the worst bugs and a tricky place to get rid of them. Be careful with you please!

Up to... been to see Mum and Dad. Mum perked up considerably whilst we were there, but went downhill on the last day. She was due her second 9 hour op tomorrow but she is very poorly with shingles and a stinking cold so they can't do it and it has to be rearranged. Bit scary putting off cancer. Saw grandparents and it was both lovely and sad. Have lost NO weight, hating work at the minute and counting down the days to my next holiday. Christmas shopping all but done, and wrapped too :) thats about it! Oh and I have 2 pairs of the most revolting trainers coming as needs must and they were only 5.99 instead of RRP £55.99 ;)

    Hugs!! xx
