A bit later than expected, I'm back. I fell asleep at 8.15pm whilst DH was watching 'the wire' and I was waiting for Dr Who to be available on iplayer. Woke up about 2am and have been loitering on here since. Must try and get back to sleep tho - very busy day ahead with more painting, awaiting delivery of house stuff, meeting friends and seeing the parents; plus have a load of marking and other work related stuff that's calling me. Deadline of a few things early in the week, so can't really put it off much longer!
The good news is that the Living room colour is nice. I'm no interior designer, so always worry that it isn't going to work (original kitchen colour was case in point). DH and I were talking about how the house is finally feeling like it's coming together, almost a year on! When we have two downstairs rooms to sit / eat in, it will feel so much more finished. We know that the funds won't allow big parts of the work to be done for some time e.g. hall and stairs, but the windows will be paid off next month (money is now there...just need to update totals, hurrah) so cue the next savings goals. We might get a quote so we know more what to aim for. I'm thinking a couple of thousand including carpet, so perhaps 12mths or so if I can keep up the current savings rate; much less depending on DH's new job figures and/or if I don't seek out too much more additional work this next year. Undecided as yet.
Well...as I concluded on Lilty's diary earlier, I do spout some gibberish, but given my name, perhaps that should be expected
Time to try and get a couple more hours sleep before the painting and associated madness starts again. Night night all - hope you're well and happy

Thanks guys - lots more painting done and should be finished in time for the plumbing engineers on Tuesday. Still loads to do, but getting the idea of what it will look like

Big shop done online also (nearly £80) at Sainsbury's but that includes lots of household things as well as the weeks food, and as DH reminded me, we didn't do a big shop last week so effectively it's two weeks. We've also taken the opportunity to stock up on things such as value curry sauce etc which are lovely for a quick meal, and very reasonable.
Hope everyone is doing ok. Craving an apple crumble so off to make one prior to my new 'health kick' which starts again tomorrow!

Sometimes I just buy curry sauce and have it with rice. I like chicken but recently the chicken I have been getting has been a bit rubbery when cooked. I LOVE curry sauce

Hey Gib.
Did you have one of those £20 off a £60 spend vouchers the Sains machines keep spitting out!?! I just bought two 'powder' mixes for korma and tandoori chicken from Mr L. Very reasonable and only a couple of spoons of each needed with some lemon juice and yoghurt plus the meat and veg, making an amazing authentic curry. Reading the ingredients I always feel a bit guilty as I have it all in the cupboard, but this seems much better than my, chuck in a splash and hope method
GAP, do you have a Mr L near you. I have had Mr A's chicken recently, and along with their braising steak it was dire, and tough as old boots. Mr L has dropped their price again for a kilo of chicken breasts, to £5.39. In comparison, I am told Mr T charges almost £14 a kilo! And the Mr L chicken is so beautiful, and so much less wastage than all the usual bits and blobs I have to chop off! Braising steak is melt in the mouth too in the slow cooker. P.S Curry sauce with chips, not rice!
it's the only way I eat chips!
Gibletttttishhhhhhhh I am so pleased for you. Imagining the engineer there now sorting the place out so you can finally dry some clothes and be warm! I am sure the colours look stunning!
and Apple crumble is fruit, and henceforth good for you
Lots of love. Thanks for writing lovely things on my diary. Am so glad you're around again. xx

Yes I have two
greedy or what eh?? I also have nearby a Mr M, Mr S, Mr T, Mr S'mid, Mr A'da and Mr A'di. Because I live in the big city there are all of these times at least 3 each (apart from Mr A'di, only one of those that I have come across, there may be others but I'm not sure, do you think I should look just in case?? Lol!) so we are not short of choice. Mr M is right across the road from me though so the most convenient. I stopped buying chicken from there as it was not nice. I recently tried again and got a couple of good bits but the last time (last week) it was rubbery again
I will try Mr L again. It's been a few weeks since I went there.
I like chips and cheese
:o (mmmmmmm......cheeeeeeseee) but truth be told, I'm not that fussed for chips. Now and again is enough for me. :A Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Haha as a kid I wouldn't eat chips at all. Then eventually I learned to eat them as 'magnet chips' - salted, vinegar on, then half dipped in mayo and the other half ketchup. When no chip can be seen, it can be eaten.... :rotfl: - Curry sauce works as well, but I rarely have chips, just as the obligatory side when I have a battered fish from the chip shop. I have on occasion asked for a chicken and mushroom pie with it instead of chips. And I wonder why I am overweight... Sigh. Lol
I am surrounded by supermarkets too. I have one of each apart from Aldee as they are in the next town and I refuse to pay for a bus to get cheap sweetener...
I do Morries as a treat, usually head straight for the deli cheeses, olives, bread and sausage rolls. Hence why I do not shop there weekly or even quarterly :rotfl: Mr A and Mr L are my two go to places and Mr S for top ups and their own brand soya milk which is the best
Enough rabbling on here. I am meant to be drinking my ovaltine and going to sleep...
xx

I don't like ketchup so that's that out. Vinegar makes chips soggy. Salt is fine. Mayo is fine. Curry sauce, fine. Chicken and mushroom pie instead of chips??? Maybe as the main but not as a side to fish hahahahahaha :rotfl: Never heard of that one! I like your uniqueness!!
Aldee is in the next town from us too. One of the Lidly's is next door. I have the car so can go there any time but I'm tight with petrol
:cool::D
I find that a lot of stuff I buy at Mr M's is cheaper than anywhere else. Some stuff is dearer but I know I am fairly safe there. They have started up this Match and More thingy now too (*note to self: sign up for that next) and the last time I went I got 480 points!!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Mmmm....chips, curry sauce, cheese, salt and vinegar on chips (not all together obviously). Wow you're making me hungry

I used to have chips, cheese and tomato sauce every day at school when I had dinner tickets. Plus a hot chocolate at break, and a biscuit thing that was melt in the mouth crumbly biscuit with chocolate at both ends (can't remember the name; vienesse finger?)
We are lucky to have one of each supermarket, including Mr A and L so spoilt for choice. We also have a number of pound and 99p shops, home bargains and poundstretcher to grab bargains depending on what it is you're after.
I really like food and household shopping. Can't bear clothes / shoe shopping tho so it balances out
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm pleased to report that we have 1/2 a house with the heating working (more to be fixed) and hot water has returned to Gibland. No more boiling pots on the stove, at least for now (hurrah). I also had some decent test results suggesting there is nothing seriously wrong with my insides. Although it doesn't stop my probs, and I have 2 new lovely tablets, I had started to get a bit worried there was something nasty lurking. Just got to get on with it!
Not much else to report really. Very busy with work the last few days and looking forward to the weekend
Apprentice on catch up time - will try and have a nosey at what's going on with you all too
p.s thanks for the lovely comments
