Hope your first day back is going ok. I hate going back to work after a holiday - you never know what is going to greet you when you get there!

Thanks for all your kind messages. The op went really well and the pup is home and snuggled up in her bed :) She didn't even need a general anesthetic :j Vet thinks it's not life threatening but it's been sent off to check.

Work was fine today, feels like I've never been away though :(

I'm staying in tonight to look after the dog so it would have been a NSD, if I hadn't spent £160 at the vets  But that's what the emergency fund is for and I will be getting some of that back from the insurance.

Off to catch up on some diaries then do some school work, see y'all later

Thanks Tilly, tootoo and Beckyy, she's currently asleep on the sofa, wrapped up in a massive blanket :D

    Quick money update:

One important item on my list recently was to investigate credit cards for cheap spending abroad. I was about to apply for the H@lifax one when realised you couldn't get it if you already have a card with them. I cancelled mine in Jan, but a quick phone call (except for the endless automated options) revealed that you can't reapply for 6 months

So, plan B: I thought I'd go for the N@tionwide card which would require opening a current account first as the FlexDirect account I was looking at also has 5% interest for one year up to £2500, which would be a good place to stash some renovation savings. However, half way through the online application I realised I had applied for a FlexAccount. Durr. But the names are so confusing! Then the laptop battery died

I then phoned cust. services and got through after 2 or 3 options and one 'ring ring' (big improvement compared to H@lifax). I decided to complete the application over the phone - could have cancelled and applied for the other account but this would have meant another credit check.

This is the bit I need to remember:
    • Can apply for Select Credit Card once account is fully open
    • Need to transfer in £750 per month
    • Can change account to FlexDirect after 28 days cooling off period
    • Need to remember to send back paperwork when it arrives

What a palava(sp?) I always do stuff like this. I hate making mistakes, try to be so careful but end up tying myself up in knots and make stupid mistakes anyway! I hope I am able to get the right credit card after all that!

Apologies for the long, rambling and boring post but I wanted to get it clear in my head and not forget what I have done!

    Almost forgot:
    • I found a £1 in my bag that I use for work! :j
    • I need to start missing cashback claim for recent washing line purchase at Mr T

... and I still need to do my marking :(

Don't be so glum Janey....you've started the process for the CC and that's the hardest bit - we all make mistakes and it's not a major one by the sounds of it.

And your doggy is ok! What fabulous news! Go eat some leftover Easter chocolate - you'll feel better. :D

  • Hi Janey, I think so many companies make their processes overly complicated so no surprise there are mistakes occasionally - I'm always getting frustrated with myself for doing stuff like that.

Take Mouche's advice and go and find an Easter egg
