Oh janey you are a list-maker like me. I'm going to enjoy your diary.

Excellent bargains on the holiday. I had my best holiday ever for our 5th anniversary and LO had arrived by our 6th so I highly recommend the perfect holiday before going in for a family.

Where's the dog going to go while you are on holiday?

I am definitely a list maker. I love them and hate them but I can't stop writing them :rotfl:

I'm really looking forward to the holiday but feel a bit sick every time I look at the figures :( I know what you mean though, we would love to have our own little one around that time next year so the holiday is our final luxury before then!

The dog will be staying with my Mum. We are so lucky to both come from families of dog lovers so none of us have to pay kennel bills. I'm a bit worried about leaving her for so long though, as we haven't been abroad in the 4 years we've had her.

Yesterday wasn't so bad after all.
    • I did finish most of my work, probably just another couple of hours to go
    • Adjusted target for emergency fund to something more achievable
    • Exercise class attended
    • Walked 2 miles with OH and the dog, a beautiful moon last night and starts very bright over the sea :D
    • I'm counting a NSD as the exercise class was budgeted for :A

Today will mostly be spent chauffeuring my mum around, but I also hope to:
    • Pick up some spare paving slabs from mum's garage
    • Finish planning for work
    • Research credit cards for overseas spending and maybe apply for one
    • Sit in the garden with book - well, I am on holiday and it's sunny! :j

I hope everyone has a lovely day :)

Today was mostly spent in the car and I had very little time to do anything else because I didn't know how long things would take. I just made it home in time to go to yoga which I pay for in advance so I'm counting a NSD :A

Just ordered a rotary clothes line from T£sco via Top C@shback, which should make drying washing outside easier, although I might need to invest in a large umbrella to put over the top of it. The washing I hung out today was *decorated* by one of the local seagull population and had to go back in the wash. What really made me laugh though, was that it also hit the dog who was stretched out nearby! She looked quite surprised, sniffed it, then lay down again :rotfl:

    Evening all :hello:

    Good things today:
    :A NSD
:) Finished work for next term
:D Sat in the sunny garden with book (no seagull attacks)

    Not so good:
:( Walked 4.1 miles which was great, but wore the wrong trainers and now have a very sore blister

I'm not sure what to do with our renovation savings. At the moment they are split between our S123 account at 3% and my 1st Direct regular saver at 6%. I was looking at the N@tionwide account which pays 5% up to £2500 for a year but I'm not sure if I can handle another current account. Then I looked at their regular saver ISA which is a bit confusing and pays 2.5%. I think it works out better than the S123 but only just, so I'm not sure if it's worth moving it? Hmmm....

I'm off to make something to eat as OH is working late and I'm too starving to wait any longer!

Edit: Found 20p roadkill on my walk :j

Thank you for mentioning the Nationwide account Janey - I opened one for OH just before the fire and had forgotten all about it. Off to check the T & C as I suspect it needs feeding every month and I haven't done any of that.

Congratulations on finishing up all your work for next term - hope it means more sunny days reading in the garden for you. And your blister means a good excuse to put your feet up too!

:hello: I just replied over on your diary!

No sun here today although it is still quite bright out, which is better than wet and windy :T

    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

So far today I have had a good tidy up, updated and tweaked the spreadsheets (again) and made a huge lentil shepherds pie for dinner tonight with lots to go in the freezer. This is adapted from a recipe I got on Courgette's diary ages ago and I love it! Going to copy it here so it's easier to find in future:

    'Shepherdless pie'

    400g continental lentils
    6 carrots diced
    2 medium onions chopped
    mushrooms
    1 leek sliced thinly
    1 tablespoon tomato puree
    3 stock cubes
    about 1.5 litres water
    tablespoon dried mint
    gravy granules
    about a kilo mashed potato

It's a bung it all in the pan (except the gravy granules) and cook until lentils are soft type of recipe, then thicken with the gravy granules.

Then put into an oven dish, top with the mash and bake in a hot oven until browned.

I don't cook very often (luckily OH loves cooking) but this is so easy and yummy, not to mention fool-proof. I like the idea of batch cooking because I have no time during the week, but I've found it difficult to find really tasty vegetarian recipes that work in the freezer. Quite often I make something from a recipe online and it's OK, but then doesn't seem that great when it's been in the freezer. I guess if I cooked more, I would find more things I like and could broaden my batch-cooking repertoire from just lentil shepherds pie and chick pea curry! :rotfl:

Just waiting for a friend to text me, then I can plan the rest of my day. It will feature a dog walk and hopefully be a NSD.

If it's veggie recipes you are after I suggest you look at GreyingPilgrim's diary. She always has yummy pictures of veggies meals there and links to cook them.
