A blog could become an income stream if you get it right...not entirely sure how that is though :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Thanks watty, I'd love to make money from it. I've been reading a couple (as research of course!) but they look quite professional which is a bit off-putting :rotfl:

I've been feeling a bit down recently. There seems to be many sources of stress in our lives at the moment which are beyond our control. I sort of thought things would improve after our wedding but they haven't. I've also slipped back into the habit of wishing away the present with too much dreaming of the future. I basically feel a bit dissatisfied and disappointed which is ridiculous! I have a lot to be thankful for. Maybe I should put 'read up on mindfulness' back on my list for the summer.

In the interests of positive thinking:

I have had a great, relaxing day. I had a much needed and rare lie-in, did a reasonable amount of 'jobs' from my list, got on top of the housework and went riding this evening. DH made a delicious dinner and is in a good mood :) Also managed to watch a whole episode of Midsomer Murders in several short segments throughout the day.
    :)

Hmmm big changes at work. Do I take the money and make myself miserable and stressed beyond belief...again? Or do I turn it down and risk making myself very unpopular, but happier (and poorer) in the long term?

My mum said I'm unlikely to find myself lying on my deathbed wishing I had spent more time at work! :rotfl: Can anybody beat that piece of advice?

Definitely not - your mum is absolutely right!

Haha - she usually is :rotfl:

I suggested a compromise and offered to take on the role temporarily until someone new can be recruited. I can go back to 'normal' after Christmas but will still earn a chunk of extra cash. I can't help but think I've been stupid to turn it down but I just know it's not for me.

The 'Big Declutter' has started. I have sorted and 'kondoed' my underwear drawer. It now looks lovely but I'm fairly certain my life is too busy to fold my socks every week :rotfl: 5 items chucked away.

Also, one large charity bag went out today containing some bedding, a moneybox, about 10 books and a couple of weird wedding presents which I'm fairly sure were bought in a charity shop!

I've also written a list in a spreadsheet to remind me what needs doing :)

    Evening :)

I'm so tired I sort of feel as if today never really happened!

DH carried on with the building work which involved a lot of head scratching and discussion about how to set out an extension which has to tie in with 3 walls that are all at slightly different angles. In the end I persuaded him that it didn't really matter if the corners couldn't be square because every wall in our street is 'on the wonk' :rotfl:

I find it funny how he can be such a perfectionist in his work but so disorganised and messy everywhere else!

In the morning I bought some blooming expensive (4 for £7) 'proper' tennis balls for my dog because he destroys the general doggy tennis balls in minutes. After a family walk on the beach I can happily report that they have survived so far! I love playing fetch now we have a ball thrower thingy because I can actually throw further than about 3 metres :T

We also had to get the car washed as DH parked it under a telegraph pole and the seagulls had thoroughly 'decorated' it in the night

To make me feel better for the spendy morning, I updated the budget and transferred a refund into our emergency fund, did a tesco order for about £30 and tidied the house from top to bottom.

I had to have a nap this afternoon and now I've got that fuzzy weird feeling so don't think I'm going to move far from the sofa this evening :o

    Afternoon

The weather is sooo much better today than the forecast predicted on Friday. Sunny and warm at the moment :T

DH is busy digging for the mains sewer - still no sign of it. I've been busy decluttering. It's going OK and more stuff is in the bin/charity/sell piles but I seem to have stalled a bit. I think it's the fact that I know there's so much to do in a definite time frame. DH has booked some time off in September to do the demolition  so that is my deadline.

I think I'll try and clear one more area then have a general tidy up and vacuum. We're going out for a pub roast this evening - yum :)

I hope you've all got some sun :)

    Morning :)

So glad I've got these days off this week. It's grey and rainy outside at the moment and I don't feel like going anywhere!

So, this week I'm going to try the 5:2 diet. This is very important for our money saving as I'm going to have to buy some bigger clothes otherwise

I'm taking a simple approach and will try to just eat breakfast and a small evening meal today and tomorrow. I'll see how it goes!

My second goal this week is to get back into walking. I used to walk the dogs for a minimum of 2 miles every day but now we just wander down to the river and play fetch for half an hour or so, which is great exercise for the dogs but not so good for me :o I'll be going out later as soon as the rain stops :)

Righteo, I've got lots of decluttering to do today and need to compare for new car insurance, do some washing and a lot of vacuuming  :)

Ooh, forgot to mention, nature notes (in the style of GG):

When DH and I were sitting in bed with a cuppa yesterday morning we gradually became aware of a loud buzzing noise. At the same moment we leapt out of bed to shut all the windows as a huge swarm of bees was buzzing past the house  Quite scary and cool at the same time.

    Have a nice day everyone,
