What an exciting life we all lead ;) and yes, very tired. At least it's the weekend :)

    Good morning :)

I had a lovely evening out last night with some friends, had a couple (+) glasses of wine and a lie in this morning :rotfl:

Yesterday was a bit rubbish as I was too tired to function properly and my cold just won't seem to go. We did have a nice, if uncomfortably hot, walk by the river. I felt like joining the dogs when they went for a paddle!

I also managed to re-pot the Wedding Day rose we were given which I was a bit nervous about. I don't know why but I really lack confidence with gardening! I know this is silly. I know how I want it to look but there is just so much to do and I don't know how to do it! I did manage to resist the many beautiful and expensive  pots at the garden center and got a simple terracotta one for £6 :money: Just need some trellis now for it to climb on.

We had really really heavy rain this morning but now it's very hot and sunny so I might get out in the garden later.

    Todays list:
    • [STRIKE]update budget[/STRIKE]
    • wash bedding
    • wash towels
    • sort out and sign new bank cards
    • order cheque book
    • address and send the last few thank you cards
    • order wedding photobook
    • nag DH to ring sky and haggle.

This item has been on my list for more than a year! It's so frustrating to see that money wasted each month. When we have done the building work we will have a new aerial on the roof and get a freeview box, but until then we're stuck with 5ky

I'll hopefully have time for a little catch up later :)

Having spent several hours on my laptop organising our wedding photo book, I am only about half way through! Not to mention feeling a bit cross-eyed. I'll try to get some more done tomorrow evening.

DH managed to haggle with sky and got nearly £20 per month off for a year :T:T:T

I'm going to switch off the laptop now and try to relax for the rest of the evening; it's going to be a busy week :o

Hi ljaneyr, I've spent the last few days reading through your diary and really enjoyed it. Congratulations on your recent wedding  I will subscribe and follow your journey with interest.

I also keep looking at the beautiful and very expensive (!) pots in the garden centre, I think I might try and have a mooch round a car boot sale to try and find some.

Thanks crumpets :) I'm avoiding car boots this year as I'm trying to declutter, not reclutter...but garden stuff probably doesn't count right? :rotfl:

:rotfl: I know what you mean, I desperately need to declutter too, I keep trying to convince dh to actually do a car boot sale but he's not sure :p

And garden stuff doesn't count because technically its not actually in the house ;):rotfl:

Pheeew! Last week was so busy - thank goodness I've got today off to recover :o

    So, what happened:

:):( I worked all of last week which will be good for the overtime but my pay still hasn't been sorted and I can't see that it will be any time soon :( Also, the atmosphere was awful there last week with a full blown row and lots and lots of whispering, muttering and complaining. Fun!

:) It was my birthday last week which I celebrated with family. I'm not really into parties and I've already organised a wedding this year...

:( We also spent one evening in the vets with a dog who had eaten nearly half a chocolate birthday cake. He is now fine but cost us a nice £95 (plus half my cake) :(

:( I just called the pet insurance to ask if it would be worth a claim, as the bill was only £20 more than the excess but the guy was not particularly helpful and said it would effect our premium next year so I decided not to bother. It was only when I put the phone down that I realised he had asked for details of what had happened and so I'm guessing the premium will go up anyway :(

Anyway, I've just updated our spending diary and while mine and DH's accounts are still looking healthy, our household account will probably be overdrawn which is annoying. I called H@lifax to get a refund transferred back from my credit card so this should help the balance a little.

Finally, I checked the cheap energy club and we could save £120 next year by switching, but I'm not sure what to do because our fix doesn't end until 30th September and has £25 exit fees. I don't know whether to switch anyway as we will still save overall, or wait and see what's available when our rate ends? Not really sure what to do...

I'm also pondering writing a blog about our renovation project as I think it would be fun, a good way to record our journey and I genuinely like writing. But...I don't know anything about blogs and websites and I'm not sure if there's much point!

    Lots of thinking to do...
