    Well hello!

I'm back after a little break and I'm married :j

    Long story short:
-Wedding was lovely with amazing warm sunny weather :D
-Honeymoon was lovely with perfect hot sunny weather :D

-Now back in the UK with non-stop rain, howling winds and feeling a little flat. Not helped by looking into how to change my name and the prospect of work tomorrow

I've got a lot of catching up to do so I'll 'see' you all soon :)

I haven't been very good at updating here but it's almost the holidays and I'm going to try harder!

We have (DH has) officially started the building work now so things are really busy in real life. I'm starting to sort through and get rid of things around the house so we will have less to pack when the time comes.

Although I haven't been paid yet, DH has so we have started a new financial month.

    In financial news...

In June we saved a total of £1515 into our renovation pot and also paid in most of the money we were given as wedding presents. Our renovation pot is now at 97% and should be full when I get paid tomorrow :j

I'm sure this will need adding to in the future, but for now any spare money will go into our emergency fund and then what I'm going to call the 'future' pot. For those of you that will read more into the title than there is, this may or may not be baby related!! Unfortunately some things take as long as they take and we might choose to put the money towards something else before we get to that point.

I've also started putting £200 per month into a 'new car' fund which we plan to get in about 3 years when hopefully the building work will be finished.

We've also had to open a joint account to pay in some of our wedding cheques. I went for another Santander 123 for the 3% interest and we're using it as a renovation account because we will both have cards.

:o Apologies for a very long and boring post! I've got a cold and I'm giving myself the rest of the day off to catch up with all of you lovely people :)

Yay! It's finally payday for me :j:j:j

    As predicted yesterday:

:D Renovation fund is now 100% although DH says we need to pay for more drawings and a fee to the water company. I'll add that when I know how much.

:)£459 to emergency fund, which is now 57%. I will to continue to add cashback etc to this as the month goes on.

:A I've also paid the first £200 to the new car fund

I also had a bit of a go with the formula mentioned by Mr E a couple of months back. Very interesting. If we want to retire with a net worth of £600,000 when I'm 50 then we need to save £27 per day, but to achieve that when DH turns 50 we would need to save £39 per day!

At the moment we do this relatively easily, but who knows what the future may bring?

    Something to think about anyway.

Hmmm, just spent an hour reading Mr E's diary and saving interesting posts re. investing. I've put this firmly on my list for the summer.

Feeling really crappy today with a nasty cold and only 5 hrs sleep. I'm aware that to the parents out there, 5 hrs is not bad, but I feel a bit like a zombie!

Got quite a bit to do today including preparing for another 'mocksted' type day on Thursday :mad::mad:. Would rather stay in bed right now which is very unlike me :(

    Afternoon/evening all

Heatwave? Not down 'ere. It is warm but the sun has only just come out

I'm sooooo tired :( I found work really hard today and had to come home earlier than I should which means i'm not as prepared for tomorrow as I would like to be. The trouble is, I hate these things so much and think they're a pointless waste of time that just ticks boxes for management, but I still get stressed over them. The children are very much in end of term mode now and so am I so I'm not sure how it will go.

I just bought a voucher for a 100 page photo book for £19 - thanks Martin :T:money::T Hope to sit down and get the wedding photos sorted this weekend :)

Anyway, tonight I'm going to drag myself to pilates because it's my birthday next week so I'll miss it.

Hope you're all enjoying your heatwave

Hello there! Congratulations on the recent nuptials!

Hope your cold starts to improve soon, and hopefully tomorrow will go well - these sorts of things are never quite as bad as feared.

But good news on the savings front - well done

Phew - it's done, with some good feedback too. I'm so tired right now I feel I could fall asleep standing up. I came home early but have got loads of marking to catch up on as a result :(

Yesterday I noticed that my overtime has been paid at a different rate to my contracted hours since September  I'll be expecting a chunk of money back when it gets sorted...which could take a while!

Might have a little nap now :o

    Evening all,

another week done. So tired today! Have I said that before?!?

Staying in tonight while DH goes out. I stupidly feel left out even though I know it's for the best.

Might treat myself and update the spreadsheets...
