Monthly reviews are all the rage
I have *3* favourite days:- Mrs E payday = nominal payday, money shuffle
- My payday = actual payday when all money is present and accounted for
- 1st of the month = monthly interest paid on our current accounts

So, payday today :j:j:j:j:j:j
I'm so chuffed today because our holiday is all paid for, spending money put aside as well as money to pay for some of the hotels on arrival :T
Which means I have been able to transfer the grand total of £124 into the wedding fund! :T:j:T:j When OH gets home all his spare money is now destined for the wedding fund too so I'm hoping it will be over £600 by the end of the day
Totals so far:
£200 to emergency fund = 58% = £2614
£443.69 to holiday fund = 100%
£80 to car savings
£50 to presents savings
£124 to wedding savings
£31.25 to my own savings
The last of our renovation savings has been moved to my account ready to go to my regular saver so it is now split between Fl£xDirect at 5% and the regular saver at 6%. From now on we will continue to pay in £300 each month until the year is up. All other money will go to the wedding pot"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. I thought I'd keep the wedding chatter to a separate post to avoid mixing it up with 'serious' money matters. Sorry if anyone is bored to tears :rotfl:
You might have noticed that I'm getting quite excited about the wedding now! Since we found the venue and spoke to the lovely owner, I am suddenly looking forward to planning and decorations and all sorts of stuff. This has been a complete turn-around from before when I was half bored and half terrified by the idea
We have set a rough budget that we think should be achievable, and have an idea of what we would like to pay for the venue. Most places we contacted required you to rent out everything for the weekend which set the cost way out of our reach, whereas this place has lots of options and you can choose the bits you want.
Unfortunately I don't think we can afford to get married there as we would need to pay for the barn and for the registrars to come out. As a compromise we are thinking of renting (in my opinion) the most beautiful of the farmhouses for the weekend, which means my family can all stay with us and it will be beautiful for photosIt is the kind of house I dream of buying one day
Today is my 'day off' as most school work is done - well, if it's not done it will have to wait! I do have a few things to do around the house but I'm going to enjoy a bit of browsing on here, a bit of Homes under the hammer and read some of my book - bliss!"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. Poor OH had only just got through the door when I started telling him his monthly budget and where to transfer his money :rotfl: He actually asked me to have complete control over his money but I drew the line at having his internet banking password! He may be changing his mind...
Anyway, I'm pleased to say that our wedding fund now has the grand total of £657:j which means we could save as little as £395 each month and still reach our target before the wedding :T
Two loads of washing done
Shopping order for Mr T done
Lots of spreadsheeting and scheming done:D
One episode of Homes under the hammer and Escape to the continent watched

Most of our accounts are joint but we do have some sole accounts, particularly ISA's. But I know Mr Goldie's passwords for Internet banking. But I always tell him when I'm going to do something on his account - I wouldn't go into his account without his knowledge.
It's just easier for me to do it for him, and he's happy to let me do it.
When I met him, he had one current account with the old Midland Bank - if I wasn't around, I think he'd go back to one account, he says he likes to keep things simpleEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I would jump at the chance to get access to DH's accounts to see the figures. I would not take money without his agreement but I would like to make a plan.

:rotfl: I probably will do it all eventually, but I like to give him the impression that he is still in control - yeah right :rotfl::rotfl:"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes.
