Happy half term Janey!
Re: masses of school work. The small bit each day approach is a good one I think, so that you do at least feel a little rested by the time you go back. The other trick I used to try to achieve was doing a little each day but ensuring I didn't do any on the first day (so you at least to enjoy a holiday feeling for a whole day at the start) then I'd make sure I'd got it all done so that the last day of the holiday is a full day off too, no school work at all, that really helps to feel more rested for the return.
Re: feeling scared about those appointments. Not a bad thing, it shows you recognise the commitment ... thee and he for the rest of your days is a humbling thought and a scary undertaking, but so long as you have no doubts that he absolutely deserves you, then face that fear, it shows you're sincere!

Thanks Hbbb, I know what you're saying! The meeting went well and the quote wasn't completely eye-watering. I also really liked the idea of having one long table for the meal - sort of like a large family party, as there will be about 30 of us! I'm just not your typical bride, I never dreamed of the white wedding
I usually try to get my school work done in one day, but then feel frustrated when I don't manage it, so I might try your idea. I'm feeling totally exhausted today - think I might be coming down with something else
I was a bit annoyed earlier to find that I ordered the wrong battery for my laptop - and I will have to pay to post it back  I have now ordered the correct one from a different site for nearly £10 less so it's not all bad. I'm just finding it so annoying having to keep my laptop plugged in
I feel like that was a bit of a moany post - sorry everyone"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012Married 2015

Well if you can't have a moany post on your own thread, where can you?
I know what you mean about laptop, my battery's died completely so I have to keep it plugged in too. I've found that talking out the old battery and just running on the AC has speeded performance up a bit though. Not sure about shelling out for a new battery as lappy is so old, am putting by my tax money for next year and hoping I've overestimated, then will maybe get a new lappy with what remains after tax bill. We'll see.
One long table sounds fun, you can always get guests to swap seats for coffee and cake etc to get everyone mingling a bit? Did the venue make the short list?
Look after yourself, if you feel grot, do take it easy (dogs and rain soaked walkies permitting)! xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hi Hbbb,
My laptop isn't new but I can't remember when I got it - t could be anything from 2 to 4 years old! It still runs really well as I got some good advice from my brother about which one to go for
The venue was nice and he definitely gave us some good ideas, but I think it may be on the expensive side for us. I'm going to ring some more this morning and we're going to another one this evening.
It is quite exciting, but I will be glad when the registrar and venue are all booked and I know it's actually going to happen on the day we want"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. We had a nice, but fairly lazy weekend in terms of doing any jobs!
On Saturday I went to pilates, then we went to have a look around a possible wedding venue.
On Sunday we did 2 hours of martial arts  then lounged around and watched TV for most of the afternoon. This is something I've been getting better at recently, as I usually find it nearly impossible to sit around when it's the weekend! To make up for it I dragged OH and dog for a 5 mile walk in the evening! It just about didn't rain on us and the tide was a long way out so we were able to walk a long way on the beach and come back over the cliffs. The beach was full of tourists despite the weather and it reminded us how lucky we are to live here
Yesterday we had lunch at my future in-laws' then dinner at my Mum's house for her birthday :T It was a very funny evening as my brother's puppy was completely manic and we just laughed the whole time. He's about to have an operation which will hopefully calm him down a bit
In the style of Hbbb I have two silver linings/simple pleasures:
OH- We picked up a couple of documents with our names on over the weekend and I said 'Soon it will say [my new name]' and he said 'That'll be really nice' with a smile at me. This took me completely by surprise and bought tears to my eyes because he is not very romantic and never really says things like that. I know he is looking forward to getting married because we have discussed it, but that is the first time he has brought it up on his own
- Watching a family of blue tits bathing in a puddle while the rain was falling like stair rods around them!
My updated list from last week:
Monday - [STRIKE]one load of washing[/STRIKE]
Tuesday - [STRIKE]another load of washing[/STRIKE]
Wednesday - [STRIKE]Shopping order for Mr T (I hate doing this)[/STRIKE]
Thursday - [STRIKE]Clean dining room[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]one load of washing[/STRIKE]
Friday - [STRIKE]Update budgets[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Book a Dr appointment[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Ring 2 wedding venues[/STRIKE]
- Do a bit of filing
Saturday - [STRIKE]Collect items from PO[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]attend pilates[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]appointment at venue [/STRIKE]
Sunday - Sort out clothes for charity/bin/stashing away until next year
Still a couple of things to do and a load more now, plus the house is a tip - the sign of a good weekend!
My plan for the rest of the week is to work through until 1pm on Tue, Wed and Thur, and try to do all the house work and other jobs in the afternoons. Friday will (hopefully) be a day off :j
Right-o, I'm going to have a quick check of the accounts then start work!

Morning all :hello:
The weather here was hot and sunny yesterday - I spent the whole day indoors working- 4 hours of school work done - spent £25 on some stuff that will save me a lot of time and hassle
- set up new CC internet banking and DD to pay full amount each month
- Ordered EHIC cards for both of us
- Booked a Dr appointment
- Took dog to the vets - £40
- Updated calendar, diary and cleared out e-mails
- Closed two of four unused bank accounts - took ages, I hate telephone banking
- Rang or e-mailed all of the wedding venues on our list
- Went to see another venue and requested a quote
Feeling a bit miffed this morning as only one of the wedding venues I contacted yesterday has got back to me. The two that I e-mailed haven't replied. Another one said they would e-mail a rough quote - nothing yet. One said they would e-mail me the wedding pack and call this morning - nothing yet. Don't they want the business?
We both loved the one we visited last night. It is a beautiful farm with interesting buildings, very rural and relaxed. I felt instantly at home there. Unfortunately I think pimms, canapes and food for the evening guests might push it out of our price range. I hate the thought of spending that much on food!
Haven't done anything very useful today. I even had to drive to the Drs which is less than 5 minutes walk away because I was late

It's worth persevering with some of the venues if you think you will like them. When the venue we were originally going to go for put their prices up by £3000 we went back to one that did not reply initially and in the end I was a lot happier and more excited.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Re: the doctors, hope you got on Ok.
Re: venues, plenty of time to decide, just give those who haven't responded a couple of days then phone them again. And maybe don't dismiss some like the farmhouse which have aspects you love but things you also can't afford / hadn't anticipated as a priority spend ... many venues are willing to negotiate on the details!
Re: OH making a romantic, honest statement, it's what buts all about!
Re: your brother's puppy ... I read this as your brother being the one to have an OP soon to calm him down ... must being my specs up from downstairs!
Re: pacing that "holiday" workload, sounds lie you're doing well with it, roll on Friday for that whole day off though!
Sorry about all the re: bits, I don't know how to pull in multiple quotes across different posts!
Oh and I can't see even a speck of shiny orange, excellent job there! XStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!
