I am a small seller but I do think that when free listings are on sales fall. There is to much stuff to wade through i get fed up with it and i am only browsing.0

I am looking at the announcement we are all discussing on this thread- which to me seems logical.

Under FAQs number 10
Will you continue to run special promotions offering free listings over a limited period?
We will continue to run regular listing promotions. So if you think you’re going to exceed your 20 listing allowance in a particular month (100 listing allowance for Shop sellers), look out for these.
As for each FLW, if you sign up to the alert thread on MSE (I'll find the link and post it later) you will be notified as soon as anyone is- usually the Wednesday or Thursday before it starts.
AS with everything ebay- always read announcements when you get them- never guess or take anyones word for things- go and check yourself. If you read the small print ebay can't catch you out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I can see how you missed it when it was about 10 lines from the top of the page.We can't all be as "clever" as you - and sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!
But very effective.

As an ocassional seller, how do you know when your month has started.
I had a mass clear out & listed lots of small items all free, but now my listing are being charged for. I thought I had listed about 50-60 things. I'm assuming Ive hit my monthly limit - but where can I check these stats? Thanks0 -

The clock resets on the 1st of each month . Some people seem to have a note on their selling page showing how many free lists they still have left, I have not got that facility.
Some sellers also have monthly limits that are lower than the current free listing limits.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I was wondering - what's to stop people just opening more linked accounts to get more listings? I opened a second one as they put a 100 limit on FLWs just as I was shedding a load of CDs and stamps, so now I can list 200 if I need to on the odd occasion. Surely this move will lead to the same thing happening?0

Yes, I agree, people are likely to open more accounts to get round the free 20 limit.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

The risk is that ebay have restricted such accounts on occasions in the past as they are for the intention of exceeding limits or some such technical wording. I suspect though that there are many sellers who have done this .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. something has occured to me, but i might be wrong as I can't get my head round all the coming changes.
If the defect rates apply to private sellers as well as business sellers, *and* private sellers generally decide to sell less due to charges- there is potentially a much higher risk of being restricted. At the moment if the expanded dashboard starts to look like it is slipping, sellers can list cheap and easy sellers to bring the percentage of lows under control. If they are now unwilling to pay to list above the 20 item free limit then any issues at all (and that will include 3* as well as 1 or 2* ) will be a higher percentage of the sales.
Ebay have said on the business notice that no one can be suspended without 5 defects from 5 seperate individuals- but over a year that isn't actually that many especially if buyers continue to mistakenly open INR cases when asking a question.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
