For me as well this will be better. I know I'm only saving 20-40p on average for each listing but when you consider FVF plus fees on postage plus PayPal taking their cut, then packaging, petrol and time (I charge exact postage!) it's nice to save anything at all!
I prefer to start my items higher and get what I want for them (or not sell and try again another day) than risk 99p auctions.0 -

I must admit I was thinking about it. I have a personal account that I buy with, if I list personal items I put them on my business account. With this I could probably mess about with a few listings and see how they go.Speaking absolutely personally- I love this new announcement. My private account is not used much despite me having cupboards and outbuildings full of my father and his sisters stuff- I even have a storage room still. 99p listings were not worth it, I wasn't going to list stuff over and over at 99p and hope for a sale- I would rather give it away. So 20 listings suits me just fine..0 -

Looking at my business shop at the moment I have several private things listed as I'm not currently using my 200 free listings and so decided to bung up a few of my larger things I want rid of. Month on month I am adding more business stock so to will be useful to move some of the private things to the correct account eventually.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm not too down-hearted about this.
In any one month, I'm unlikely to have more than 20 items that I will want to sell. I experimented with a couple of BIN's earlier in the year, and I was pleased with how quickly the things sold, so I might do a few more BINs
However, I'm selling off our LP collection at the moment, and the 100 free 99p listings has been ideal for this. I usually list them for up to three times, and if they haven't sold, I put them into a bulk lot. In future, I'll just have to wait until free listing promotions to list my LP's
Another thing the 99p listing was good for, was when you had something in the loft you just want somebody to take off your hands. I like listing them at 99p, and just see how far the price goes. As long as it leaves the house, that's the main thing, but an unexpected high price is a bonus.
But in future, I'll list that sort of item in my free 20Early retired - 18th December 2014

As someone who sells lots of little things such as perfume samples and newspaper DVDs,I am now restricted to 20 items a month instead of 300 free listings a month(assuming two weekends of free listings) If this is a "good surprise" from Ebay I'd hate to see a bad surprise.0

I've a feeling only you will be feeling the loss on that one. It's going to be tough seeing Ebay without 2000 listings of DVDs of the first episode of Morse but most of us will cope.As someone who sells lots of little things such as perfume samples and newspaper DVDs.
I've been more reassured that this is a great initiative from Ebay by the reasons people have given for being against it..0 -
eBay's latest announcement yesterday will hit the army of private sellers like myself who are de-cluttering and downsizing or simply breaking up collections. They have removed the 100 free 99p listing s a month (I didn't use them but accept that many have a use for them) and replaced them with 20 free listings a month with everything you list thereafter charged at a flat rate of 35p. So instead of 10p to list a CD that might sell for £2 if you are lucky it will now be a whopping 35p! On that basis I think many sellers will simply not bother or wait for the free listing weekends and again, like the "free" postage that has to be included with a little extra for Greedbay's 10%, it will ultimately be the buyers who will suffer as there will be less choice.......

***A good surprise for private sellers on eBay.co.uk – 20 free listings every month***

Hello,
From 13 May 2014 we’re making a significant change to our fee structure to make it more transparent and easier to understand. We’re offering more flexibility in how you sell and removing insertion fees for the first 20 listings.
Private sellers will enjoy:
· Every month you’ll get to list up to 20 items in any category (excluding Motors) for free - these free listings can be in auction or fixed price format and can have any start price
· Every month you’ll get to schedule up to 20 of your listings for free - this means you choose when they go live
· Insertion fees after your first free 20 listings will be £0.35 per listing
What’s not changing?
· The final value fee for item and postage costs will remain at 10% across every category (excluding Motors and Property) for private sellers. The maximum you will pay is £75.
What’s disappearing?
· 100 free auction only listings per month provided the start price is less than £1
· The tiers of auction fees where your insertion fee is dependent on the tier of your starting price
· The different fee structure for media-related (DVDs, films, video games etc.) and other categories
· The £35 insertion fee for property listings
Private sellers with a Shop:
You don’t need to be a business to run an eBay shop. With an eBay Shop, you’ll get everything you need to create a central shopping destination where buyers can learn about you and all the products you sell.
Private sellers with a Shop will enjoy:
· Every month you’ll get to list up to 100 items in any category (excluding Motors) for free - these free listings can be in auction or fixed price format and can have any start price
· Every month you’ll get to schedule up to 100 of your listings for free - this means you choose when they go live
· Final value fees are reduced from 10% to 8% (up to a maximum of £75)
· Insertion fees after your first free 100 listings will be £0.35 per listing
What’s not changing?
· Private sellers with a Basic Shop continue to pay £19.99 per month
What’s disappearing?
· 200 inclusive fixed price listings per month
Anything else
We will continue to run regular listing promotions so if you think you’re going to exceed your listing allowance in a particular month, look out for these.
Also, please note that fees for eBay business sellers are unaltered.
Regards

As a business seller, I'm glad. Too many "private" sellers abusing the 100 free listings and FLW.
I find it impossible to believe that someone not running a business would require 1200 free listings per year.
Utter codswallop! So anyone decluttering, downsizing or breaking up a collection is a business seller? Not impossible - I am getting ready to list over 300 records collected over 50 years - that doesn't make me in any way a business but with this new fee structure I will not be paying 35p to list but waiting for FLWs like everyone else.0
