As a business seller, I'm glad. Too many "private" sellers abusing the 100 free listings and FLW.

I find it impossible to believe that someone not running a business would require 1200 free listings per year.

It don't use it every month but it is surprisingly easy to use!

It isn't 1200 brand new individual items each year. It could just be 25 items that are not selling relisted every week...LOL

All I put on my personal account are my kids outgrown toys/clothes, unwanted presents, DVD's that I'll never watch again and more recently the record collection I inherited from my uncle. I started off at the beginning of the year with approx. 80 listings and I still have about the same up now. I relist the ones that didn't sell each week and then replace the ones that did with 'new' listings. Out of the original 80 items I would say that only about 10-12 still haven't sold and they will not be relisted again but sent to the charity shop.

You didn't see my late husbands collections!

7200 items found so far. I use the 100 every time. I don't have time to more than about 20 new listings but make it up to 100 with relists, generally selling about 15 new and 5 relists which suits me as 20 parcels is all I have time for.

20 free - It will take me years to sell the remaining 6000

aims for 2014 - grow more fruit and veg, declutter

Believe me you can easily get up to 100 listings, because only 10-20 % sell each time if you list 20 new things each free listing weekend then just keep relisting the unsold ones it does all add up.

I have some DVDs, a lot of video games and some books...possibly some other things too. I highly doubt even with relisting I'll reach 20 a month every month, especially with BIN included.

I'm in no real rush to sell everything but even so. I'll also put some stuff into bundles as well so not only is it more likely to sell, but it'll only be counted as one listing not a number of listings.

Perhaps you would do better selling elsewhere as well. Ebay isn't the only option.

Unfortunate for you, but I imagine people like you are a tiny minority.

Blame the unregistered business sellers who have been abusing it for years for ebay's change of direction.

Going by posts on here, 99p start items cause a lot of headaches for ebay through sellers not getting what they wanted for the item and not sending, and people thinking they can send any old tat. It's a lot of work for a tiny return in terms of FVF, and there are other avenues for private sellers such as car boots or jumble sales.

I have tried but so far ebay has offered me the best protection/control. I do use Amazon for books for the same reason.

Early on a dealer offered me £200 for all the books. I did a bit of basic research and listed 400 on Amazon (about 1/3 of the collection). So far one has sold for £109 and another £95, several for £30-40. Most go for about £10. I'm already up on the dealer even after fees. I know the dealer has to make a profit and costs but £200 was way too low.

Having said that some dealers have been really kind. I listed an item on ebay incorrectly thinking it would make about £50. I got suspicious when I suddenly had over 450 watchers**. Several messages asking me £50 - 60 off ebay. But the good thing was I got about 15 messages telling me of my mistake and how I should sell it - for around £2000! when restored it will be around £3500 so I'm thinking about it.

**turns out I had been awarded 'the idiot ebay listing of the week' award on a forum:rotfl:

Wow lol. I get why ebay is a good place to sell them, although I would have thought other options would alright for some things. Perhaps an ebay shop would be the better option now?

I think you are right. Not worth it in many ways. My fees calculator worked out that profit on a 99p item with postage of £2.60 posted at cost is 31p, even less now. I've not used 99p listings since fees on post started.

Car boot - not a chance with 4 year old triplets plus a 6, 8 and 9 year old:o They wouldn't fit in the car with all the stuff:rotfl:

I've not been a fan of much of the latest round of changes but this seems a decent compromise.

The people that are disappointed appear to be so because they keep listing stuff that doesn't sell. As a business seller it's hard enough to get items found these days without customers having to wade through stuff they don't want.

The private shop seems like a pretty good option for anyone still wanting 100 listings. A shop page is easier to link to Facebook and if you've got decent stuff to sell 20p/listing is a pretty good deal.

Speaking absolutely personally- I love this new announcement. My private account is not used much despite me having cupboards and outbuildings full of my father and his sisters stuff- I even have a storage room still. 99p listings were not worth it, I wasn't going to list stuff over and over at 99p and hope for a sale- I would rather give it away. So 20 listings suits me just fine.
