I don't use the 99p listings I normally list on flw so if they continue I will carry on as normal. But if the Flw aren't as frequent I do think the increase from 15p to 35p for items starting up to £5 will mean a lot of people won't bother listing items, not the 99p "tat" but items buyers might actually want but sellers aren't sure will sell so not worth spending 35p on. I still think no listings fees at all would probably make more money for ebay by having more items listed and so more FVF's!0

For me this may be the last straw in using ebay. Too many bad experiences lately. I purchased an electric appliance that went wrong after a couple of months and ebay were no help whatsoever. I understand they just match buyer and seller, but to me (the buyer) they didn't resolve my situation, and have made no move to stop it happening to other buyer's.
And losing my 100 free listings a month and dressing it up as a nice surprise that I now get 20. Give us some credit please! The comments above about private seller's not listing 100 things a month made laugh. I relisted a load of old football programmes that drip sell occassionally. But effort has gone into listing them. Now I will lose the listings at some point as they will expire. Thanks ebay.
I championed ebay for years and years, now an alternative is definitely needed. One that takes ebay back to its roots.0 -

I've not been a fan of much of the latest round of changes but this seems a decent compromise.
The people that are disappointed appear to be so because they keep listing stuff that doesn't sell. As a business seller it's hard enough to get items found these days without customers having to wade through stuff they don't want.
The private shop seems like a pretty good option for anyone still wanting 100 listings. A shop page is easier to link to Facebook and if you've got decent stuff to sell 20p/listing is a pretty good deal.
Also, I don't think people wade through loads of stuff they don't want. You can easily edit every detail of the search so that it is a manageable list.0 -
As someone who sells lots of little things such as perfume samples and newspaper DVDs,I am now restricted to 20 items a month instead of 300 free listings a month(assuming two weekends of free listings) If this is a "good surprise" from Ebay I'd hate to see a bad surprise.
It is reported by someone at Ebay that free listing weekends will still be offered.0 -
So like the postage FVF, this is yet another blanket policy to catch the offenders while sweeping everyone else along. EBay can't be bothered to do proper research and find the specific offenders so this is their answer. How many dodgy listings do you come across when you search for something? And how many of them have you reported time and time again for dodgy listing practices? Have you seen any of them removed? We do their work for them by reporting these things and they do nothing.
It's happened to me a few times tbh when I've just made a silly mistake but someone has clearly reported it - it is removed and I get a telling off!0 -

I totally agree.
Sellers happy!
Buyers happy at lower prices!
Ebay increase overall profit.
No brainer!:rotfl:0 -
I don't disagree, I was an auctioneer for 15 years. One of the problems with Ebay is that some seller will keep putting the Morse DVD they got free with the Daily Mail on, ad nauseum, along with 300 other people, it could have been relisted every week for ten years.I have a problem with people who bandy around terms like "decent stuff" and "tat" as everyone has different perceptions and needs. Ever heard of trash and treasure syndrome? If it weren't for that we would be up to our necks in landfill! I spent 15 years on a prime tourist spot selling what most called "tourist tat" but if people want to take home a fridge magnet or keyring as a memento that is up to them.
The other problem with Ebay is the drastic changes they introduce without telling sellers what the reasons (if any) behind them are. I think it would have been easier to gradually move to this by trying a few other steps along the way..0 -

No, not all sellers want free listings. I am careful what I list and take pride in my items, if the site was flooded with every single bit of tat that everyone and their dog wanted to get rid of my listings would become lost in the millions of listings. Whilst their are limits and costs it means people perhaps give a thought to what they list. Perhaps mush lower listing fees would be a compromise, if they made people stilll think about their listings.
There is an auction site that has been running free listings for 11+ years- if sellers and buyers all wanted free listings why aren't they all on there ?It is reported by someone at Ebay that free listing weekends will still be offered.
It is on the announcement- it doesn't need to be 'reported by someone at ebay'I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I don't know what announcements you are looking at but it isn't on the eBay site I am looking at! They don't usually announce it until midnight Friday these days anyway.0
