Talking of the shop option - does anyone know if you can have a shop for a month and then close it and only pay the one £19.99?
That is exactly the question I was trying to find the answer to. I was thinking 3 months from Sept - November as I'll have more time then.

AFAIK you pay for exactly what you want with a shop, so if you open it and then request closure in a month you will only pay the £19.99.
I do love my shop though even if perhaps my sales don't really warrant it. The fact that I can put on holiday settings is worth the £19.99 to me. I do sometimes work long days and just switch off my shop so I don't have to come home at 9pm, cook dinner and then have to wrap items, likewise I have been much happier about holidays. I used to have to consider all my 30 days BINs and end times, or even close them all, now I just put on my holiday settings the day before I leave.

I couldn't give my shop up
Hmmmm..... I might be saying that by December.
Outgrown toys and clothes come in threes in this house. I'm given a lot and pass it on if it's still OK but as they get older I do find I'm buying more new so there may still be some value.
Is a shop just BIN? I prefer auction for my late husbands quirky stuff - it's often impossible to set a price.

There are differences between business and private shops- as a business I get 200 free BIN listings and reduced insertion rates for aucitons. You would need to check the announcement for private shops as I know the limit is 100 free listings but don't know if that includes auctions as well as BINsI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Currently private sellers with a shop get 200 BIN listings free with auctions at 5p under £1 and 15p for £1 +
Additional BIN are 10p
With the fee change 13 May private sellers with a shop will get 100 free listings which can be either BIN or auction listings and include scheduled listings, all listings over the 100 will be charged at 35p.
There is also a reduction in FVF to 8% for private shops from 13/050 -
I did that recently went thru the ask a question and it just opened a case when I wanted to contact the seller. Wondered why he was so quick to refund without even replying

I got quite narked with the first tow people who did that to me then came to find out that it is "automated case opening" where eBay detects in the message that the item has not been received and opens the case when they may have simply asked politely where it might be, thus putting buyer and seller immediately at loggerheads! Not to mention the extra work of handling a case and usually for paltry amounts. They say it is to avoid fraudulent INR claims but as far as I can see it just makes trouble for both parties when they are genuine. I am not as bothered these days about INRs anyway as I have a new outlook on them - the Royal Mail refunds at the sale price without taking 10%, so a refund is not such a big deal! Even if they are not telling the truth, refund them and let them get on with it, wait the prescribed 15 days, then claim.0 -

I don't know what you sell or post out but anything bigger than a large letter is now not worth sending by Royal Mail. Since the price went up to £2.80 at the end of March and Hermes re-introduced their 1 kilo rate at £2.78 drop-off or £2.98 doorstep I no longer send anything by post as that price includes tracking so INRs hopefully become a thing of the past. 18p well spent! And despite all the horror stories you might hear about them, speak as I find, they have lost ONE parcel in 4 years and broken one - my fault as I was not happy with the packing level but let it go anyway. RM on the other hand have (allegedly) lost 3 in the last 6 weeks.0 -

I don't know about that but I get fed up with them saying you will get 100 FREE listings (and that is auction and BIN) when in reality they are 20p listings as you are paying £20 a month - and some months you might not have 100 so the price per listing is higher. If you are currently paying nothing that is a big hike for sellers of small collectables.0 -
It is so surreal hearing about your ebay shop, Soolin.
I thought you had died on Gouda Prime.0
