Go for it! Enjoy those fish n chips n mayo, you deserve it.

Linda, I'm curious. Why does Tinks 'deserve it'?

It seems to me that this 'deserving culture' is part of the problem.

Every supermarket mag says, ' You deserve this', "Here's your treat". To me, a treat is maybe once a week a tops, and ideally, less than that. Even slimming programmes {eg slimmers world) have 'treats' built in, often every day. This does not help to train your 'palate'.

The programme Secret Eaters highlighted this. There was someone who drank, what to me is a lot of alcohol, (I will normally have a bottle of cider / 1-2 pints on a night out and then soft drinks the rest of the evening) and didn't count the calories in alcohol.

Pint of cider can have 200 plus calories easily, again fine if its now and then, but if people are drinking their bodyweight in alcohol on a regular basis and some people do, no surprise that they cant lose weight even if their diet is otherwise healthy.

Slimming world does have treats built in, syns, so does WW (not syns but you are allowed treats), so does scottish slimmers

I assume its because they think if people can count a treat into a daily plan, they are less likely to go out and binge on sweet or savoury stuff if its denied.

When you start you can have 15 syns a day but as you've lost weight you need to cut back on them or you stop losing.

The best idea is to use your syns for meals i'e sauces & stuff rather than chocolate & crisps. I find that if I have chocolate for my syns I find it hard to stop at 1 bar & want to eat them all. :o

I've been getting dressed up tonight, because it's Saturday, and it seems I'm still losing weight, which I really don't need. Apart from anything else, I can't afford more clothes.

There are lot's of Slimming World recipes to combat cravings. You can mix a Mullerlight yoghurt with a sachet of Highlights hot chocolate, put into an ice cube tray & freeze. They are actually really nice & do help when you fancy something chocolatey.

I think really we can spent a long time on diets thinking, I cant have this and I cant have that because its bad for me, when its actually not bad for us at all.

There are so many foods I'll eat now that I wouldnt have eaten a couple of years ago, its very easy to get stuck in a food rut.

I think some advice given out by certain companies, Im pretty sure the british heart foundation has been criticised for the way it views fat, it doesnt help.

Certain types of fat are bad for us and too much of certain types of fat are bad for us. But fat is not bad for us full stop.

What are you eating now that you didn't eat in the part?

I'm the same I'm eating newer foods, sushi, trouts seabass, stir fry, butternut squash, tuna burgers

And I've cut out things (mainly meat)

But health wise, you might be better having less of the full fat mayo and less of the lighter than light mayo. Or look for alternatives.

Its whats added to all the light or "lite" products to cut calories that might be a concern.

I actually shudder at how much diet drinks I used to consume. I dont drink any now, havent for a few years and dont miss it at all.

I've tried to find an alternative I like, I couldn't

You may well eventually reach your target weight by calorie counting Tinks, but until you educate your palate, I seriously doubt you will be able to stay at your target.

I'll be able to stay at it
