For those who have asked, a typical days food for me would be -
Breakfast, - porridge made with approx.30gs oats, skimmed milk and fruit eg. a grated apple. Flavoured with cinammon instead of sugar.
Lunch - a wholemeal pitta with cheese/houmous/hard boiled egg and salad.
    1-2 clementines
Dinner - something like vegetarian chilli, lentil bolognaise or cheese omelette with green veg. If I have spaghetti or rice I weigh them out, no more than 75g dry weight. I don't count calories but use a dessert plate for portion control.
Plain yoghurt with a few tinned peaches.
I lost about 4 stones eating this way. I found it easy to stick to, though I have found myself picking at food in the evenings lately. I'm healthy and do quite a bit of exercise (mainly swimming). I like the way it makes me look and feel, and health is important to me .

Hi Tink2, just flicking through some posts and I have a couple of suggestions or you. I know you've said you eat slow but do you eat whilst doing something else?

This is one thing I've learnt from Paul McKenna and all the French diet books I've read. Concentrate on the food, really taste it. This will do 2 things firstly you will get fuller sooner and secondly you may find you actually don't like the things you think you can't life without. And this goes for everything Crisps included.

The other thing is EVERYBODY else at the swimming baths will be thinking the same as you. OH no look at my belly/thighs/arms (substitute any wobbly bit here) everybody will be looking at me. With the up shot that everyone is so worried about their own bodies they don't even bother to look at anyone else's. So seriously sweetie NO ONE is looking at you! LOL

Just to add to my previous post, I've started using some of Jack Monroe's recipes from her blog (the vegetarian ones). I find the portion sizes are spot on for weight control ,for a woman at least.
  • I'm rubbish at it, I managed to lose half a stone in the last month, which is obviously great and I'm really happy with, but I can't resist grabbing a pizza now and then on the way home from the pub. Both of those things are awful for me!

    Ok so wed 9th

Spready cheese and jalapeño sandwich x2
    No sugar energy drink 250ml
    Twirl bar
    Sole crumble with watercress sauce
    Salad - 75g
    Salad dressing - 32ml

    1164 calories
    57.8g protein
    133.8g carbs
    42.4g fat

    Haven't been hungry today

I know you've already made massive changes to the way you're eating and you're doing really well but I do find it slightly concerning that even though your calorie intake is very low you're having more WW propoints a day than I'm allowed. Yesterday's totals add up to 31 points and the day before's are 43 - I'm allowed 26 per day (the highest I was ever allowed was 33 and that was 5 and a half stone ago) and then 49 weekly points to be used as and when needed (although I know it would be much more sensible to spread them out over the week so I can eat more each day, I tend to use them for wine at the weekend). I know every person has to find the way to diet that works for them but please try to make sure you're picking foods that will give you the best nutrition for their calorie value so that you don't make yourself ill.

I have no idea what calories I had yesterday but my points were made up of:

1/4 pint semi-skimmed milk in coffee (2 points)
Kiwi, lime and apple smoothie (3 points)
1 slice seeded/wholemeal bread with homemade lemon curd (4 points)
Quorn peppered steak and salad with a small amount of ranch dressing (7 points)
    Banana (0 points)
Omelette made with one large egg and two whites, 2 strips of Quorn bacon, mushrooms and 30g cheese and a small slice of seeded toast (10 points)
    Fruit salad (0 points)

And don't worry, I'm not suggesting you join a WW class - I've never been to one, just borrowed my mum's books and calculator and got on with it myself.

So, do you never get naked or wear underwear undoors then? Surely it's the same thing, if you're not worried about other people seeing you.

Only time I'm naked for a long period of time is in the shower and I hate it

I do eat while watching TV but I always concentrate on the food, my calories are worked out before I eat it so even if I didn't concentrate I know the calories I'm eating

I didn't get any crisps when shopping :D

I appreciate you replying but I'm not doing WW so surely it doesn't matter if my food was more than you had in points, my calories were low enough

I hope that doesn't sound rude, it's not meant to

It's alright, it doesn't sound rude but does slightly miss the point (no pun intended) I was trying to make.

No, it doesn't matter at all if your points are higher than WW would allow if this style of dieting is what's working for you. I just find it slightly concerning that you're eating that few calories yet your points would be that high and, to me, it suggests that you're eating a lot of empty calories which isn't going to be healthy or sustainable in the long run. I've spent the majority of my life on some diet or other though so what do I know and, as I said, different styles work for different people :)

The only empty calories was the twirl and the 5 from the energy drink :o

Well, that's progress. You can't eat what isn't there.

I still don't see how something with only 5 calories can be an energy drink, as there is nothing there to provide energy. Having said that, keep drinking them as if they have no calories they are not a problem. And as you don't burn off calories exercising, you shouldn't need high calorie drinks anyway. So that's all good too.
