Lol yes he was a delight to be around :p

So very grateful my current bf is nothing like him and on the whole very supportive! Makes all the difference. :)

Speaking of which, do you find your oh is supportive of you trying to lose weight?

Yeah he has been supportive, he makes sure everything's weighed out and he helps working out the calories/fat/pro/carbs etc

The thing is, thats how people feel when they are on a diet. Cut things out, get to goal weight and then some people let loose again and thats when the weight goes on. When you get to goal weight, you want to be maintaining that.

I do think, the less you have of junk food, the less you want it. A few years ago I used to have a pizza and chips on a Friday night. These days I'll have pizza maybe twice a year.

Perhaps you need to think about incorporating much more of the healthy stuff into your diet and you'll find that maybe, the times in between having that pizza gets longer.

It's true. You will never lose a significant amount of weight, nor keep weight off, if you cannot discipline yourself to cut out the junk. But once you do stop eating pizza, crisps, chocolate etc, after a while you just don't miss them. The best plan is simply not to buy them. Avoid temptation in the supermarket and there will be no temptation at home.

The other key issue for me is the concept of snacks. If you eat proper meals, especially a sensible breakfast, there is simply no need to keep munching rubbish between meals. Unless it's a piece of fruit, of course. Snacking is a result of boredom and haphazard eating patterns, and it is a definite no-no if you are trying to lose weight.

    I rarely snack tbh

I've cut other things out and not stopped missing them

Mayo, fruit (especially grapes and honey dew melon) and I miss meat sometimes too

ETA, my dad lost 4.5 stone by having a weekly treat and my mum lost weight too (their treat being a Chinese take away once a week) and my dad has kept it off, my mum died in case anyone ask if she kept it off too

If you cut things out that are bad for weight loss, but crave them even after a long time, that is a trait in your personality, I suspect. Most people could do just that simply by occupying the mind elsewhere.

I used to suck sweets when I was driving, but realised that I was taking on too much sugar. I would reach for them without even thinking about it, almost as easily as changing gear. Answer: no sweets in the car now.

If you remove temptation that's most of the battle. If there is no chocolate in the house, for instance, you can't eat it. And if you don't buy it, it won't be in the house.

Having a weekly treat is never a problem, especially if it is a meal rather than junk. It becomes a problem when the 'treats' happen too often, or are in addition to normal meals.

Ultimately, losing weight, and keeping it off, is about self discipline. Look around in the street and you see huge lardy folk around Greggs, McDonalds and so on. That's not coincidence, it is their inability to resist a pasty or a burger.

My treat doesn't happen too often, it's a once a week pizza and it's worked into my calories, it's not as if I'm over eating on the day I have it

I can see what you're saying, sort of like you get used to having it, like you with the sweets when driving?

For me a pizza used to be a daily thing (yep, daily) I just got used to buying them, so when shopping would load a weeks worth in the trolly, now when I go I buy two (one for me, one for the OH) on top of that it would be things like burgers where I would eat the whole box with buns and sauce, lasagne etc, don't buy them now, if I have burger it's quorn and it's 1-2 with veg or salad, no lasagne at all

Take aways used to be a weekly thing but we don't have them now

Like I said the crisps are gone, will not be buying them, I'm eating things I never used to such as salad, sushi and less of the things I used to eat

Yesterday I had a go ahead bar and a yogurt and coffee. Missed lunch as didn't have time. Tea was a tesco healthy living quiche(want to have a go at making one myself next time) lettuce, cherry toms cucumber and a small ammount of coleslaw with jacket potato which I used half ammount of butter and cheese on it I used to. Then in evening I had a glass of squash and 3 biscuits, instead of about 10 I would normally of had....and managed to avoid eating cake or chocolate and crisps.
