I think you also need to have some acceptance of the size you are now. Weight loss isnt a magic wand, too many people get caught up in the, my life will change if I lose so much weight and for some people weight loss is a life altering thing. But you'll still have your low days, even thinner.

Dont put your life on hold. I absolutely agree with people who say when you are swimming you'll see people of all shapes and sizes. There are people much bigger than me and Im not skinny by any stretch of the imagination.

I actually started swimming in times where I felt far too self conscious to go and do a gym session or a class. People dont care what you look like, they are too busy dealing with their own lives and body image.

Also, I wouldnt necessarily weigh myself once a week. You weigh week to week, you put weight on, you think sod it Ive failed. You weigh once a month or every 6 weeks, you might feel better.

This morning: A glass of kefir, an apple and one banana

Lunch: carrots, kale, green beans, mackerel fillet, apple

Dinner: to a French restaurant with a friend. Mushroom soup, boeuf bourguignon (a delicious stew) with carrots and mash, one glass of red.

I walked to the place (45 minutes).
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Surely you'd have realised after the first pack? Why go on to eat four packs? That's either mindless eating or sheer greed.

Sorry for being blunt but I find it most effective with some of my more delusional clients :)

Not necessarily, I ate the prawn ones first, it was the cheese and onion that really lacked in flavour (although the prawn ones have changed too)

I'm hoping losing will help my confidence but I'm not pinning everything on it, same with my pain, I'm hoping it will lessen it but again not pinning all my hopes on it

I do find weighing once a month better

    My life isn't on hold

Ok, I've just got to page 4(?) where you said you can't go swimming because you are too self conscious to wear a swimming costume in public.
For goodness sake, no one cares . People go swimming in order to lose weight. When I started swimming (well, restarted) I wore a horrible balack size 22 costume ,with a pair of shorts over it. Of course I felt embarrassed, but it was the best thing I've ever done. Nothing has improved my body as much as swimming.
There is a lady who I see swimming sometimes and she is probably the largest lady I've ever seen, but she isn't afraid to get in the pool and swim.
There are people of all ages, shapes and sizes but no one cares. Everyone is just there to exercise.

Completely agree with this!! When I was at my biggest size (24) I just donned a swim/skirt cossie and got in the pool. No one can see your body under water. And quite frankly no one cares!!!

Whenever I see an obviously obese person newcomer to my gym(s) I actively encourage and support them and make them feel incredibly comfortable to be there :)

LOL, horses for courses ;). I break the #1 rule about losing weight and weigh daily - for my personality type it helps to see the fluctuations so I know not to take them seriously. If I see a 1lb increase over a week I'm heartbroken, but when I see a 5lb increase overnight (it's happened) I know it's just water.

Anyway, I do the 5:2 but on a typical non-fasting day like today I might eat:

Breakfast - cereal bar (I know these have too much sugar in them but I hate mornings and need something I can grab on the way out the door).

Lunch - homemade soup, today was butternut squash and chilli

Dinner - Today was Chilli and basmati rice. Our homemade chilli is made without oil and with very little mince, it's packed full of veggies instead. We cook in batch and get 20 portions from 1 kg of mince :rotfl:

Depending on how much exercise I've done I sometimes get hungry later in the day and will have a bowl of porridge (made with water and salt) or a couple of weetabix.

I already answered jo who said this, no stranger cares which is correct

I care though not about what others think of me but what i think of myself and atm I'm too self conscious but I WILL go when I've lost some more weight

Trust me. barely any people will even notice you and those that do will be silently congratulating you for getting off your backside and into the pool :D

Again it's not about others it's about me and how I feel in myself and when I'm in a swimsuit

I understand the whole being self conscious thing

I remember when I was at my heaviest (21st!) I wanted to go swimming but was scared of what people would think. My ex helpfully told me "if you weren't so fat you wouldn't have to worry about it would you"

I did eventually find the confidence to go and honestly people don't give a toss. Most are so engrossed in what they are doing they don't notice and nobody has ever said anything negative to me, I see people of all sizes.

Monday and today I was stupidly self conscious of going running, I envisioned people shouting abuse at me but nobody battered an eyelid, and tbh if they did say something my current thinking is "I may be fat but at least I'm trying to do something about it"

Honestly don't let what other people think stop you from doing something you want to do, hopefully as you lose weight you will become more confident :)

Edit: just seen it's not other people, in that case it's more to do with how you feel bout yourself. You may not be happy with how you are now, but you have the power to change that, and that's a good thing that you are trying to, and hopefully you will think better of yourself

Lol yes he was a delight to be around :p

So very grateful my current bf is nothing like him and on the whole very supportive! Makes all the difference. :)

Speaking of which, do you find your oh is supportive of you trying to lose weight?
