Oh goody, a Tinks diet thread. I haven't seen one of these for ages! Will have to read through all the pages later.
Anyway, to answer the op, I suppose I am struggling in a sense. I don't have quite as much self control as I used to. I usually end up snacking in the evenings - nothing too bad because I don't buy things like cake or biscuits, but enough to stop me from losing more weight.
I have stuck around 11 stones, bmi 26.5. I am not really focussing on weight loss any more but more on keeping my waist measurement at a safe level (50% of height) and minimum 3 hours of exercise a week ,in addition to walking every day. My other goal is eating minimum of '5 a day' ,small amounts of things like pasta, wholemeal bread etc. and cutting out all (or nearly all) of the obvious crap - sweets, crisps, takeaways etc.
Tinks, I don't know if anyone else has suggested it, but have you ever tried Paul McKenna's techniques? I have often thought that your real problem lies in your attitude to food.

I haven't tried it no although I don't believe in hypnosis

Not sure what you mean by attitude to food

    Well done on your loss
did you not realise after pack 1 that they didnt taste the same? I am unsure as to why you would continue to eat another 3 packets of the same crisps if you didnt like them?

I am bowing out of this thread as you seem to be in some sort of denial..

I thought it was a one off, I have had it happen before (a tasteless bag of crisps) the prawn ones were slightly more flavoursome compared to the cheese ones

Ok, I've just got to page 4(?) where you said you can't go swimming because you are too self conscious to wear a swimming costume in public.
For goodness sake, no one cares . People go swimming in order to lose weight. When I started swimming (well, restarted) I wore a horrible balack size 22 costume ,with a pair of shorts over it. Of course I felt embarrassed, but it was the best thing I've ever done. Nothing has improved my body as much as swimming.
There is a lady who I see swimming sometimes and she is probably the largest lady I've ever seen, but she isn't afraid to get in the pool and swim.
There are people of all ages, shapes and sizes but no one cares. Everyone is just there to exercise.

I already answered jo who said this, no stranger cares which is correct

I care though not about what others think of me but what i think of myself and atm I'm too self conscious but I WILL go when I've lost some more weight

Your attitude to food seems somewhat childish to me, in that you seem to feel deprived if you don't eat certain things.
eg, eating 3 packets of crisps at once. Why? Why even buy that many crisps?
I don't really see why an adult would do that.

Oh no it's not that I feel deprived its just that I like to eat the foods I like

I see no point in cutting things out only to have them again once I get to my goal weight, I would rather keep certain things in my diet as a treat IE a once a week pizza and work it into my calories

The thing is, thats how people feel when they are on a diet. Cut things out, get to goal weight and then some people let loose again and thats when the weight goes on. When you get to goal weight, you want to be maintaining that.

I do think, the less you have of junk food, the less you want it. A few years ago I used to have a pizza and chips on a Friday night. These days I'll have pizza maybe twice a year.

Perhaps you need to think about incorporating much more of the healthy stuff into your diet and you'll find that maybe, the times in between having that pizza gets longer.

Exactly that's what I mean, I would rather keep pizza in my diet as a treat rather than cut it out and end up gaining all the weight back that I lose because I go OTT on pizza

There's no reason to cut it out if I like eating it and I can lose weight

You do have a point with that, we used to get a take away every week, then it went to once a fortnight, then once a month, now we are both sick of them and I can't see us getting one for a while

Don't get me wrong not everything I eat is junk, I have introduced healthy food especially since I've become a pescetarian

Tink, you've tried this approach before, and it didn't work. You've been trying to lose weight for at least 3 years (that I know of) - if this approach did work then you would have reached your target a long time ago. It's not as if you have a massive amount to lose - it's achievable. Even at a rate of a pound a week - very sensible - you could have easily got there, and maintained, within that time.
Sooner or later you might have to accept that whole frozen pizzas and multi packs of crisps are off the menu, if you really want to lose weight.
Seriously, what do you think would happen if these things ceased to exist?
