Have you tried coconut water (I don't like it either. Only got it because my running friends were raging about how lovely it was) with pineapple?
I do tend to sick to water mostly, sometimes have milkshake / protein shake or may have a fizzy drink once or twice a month.
Yes. I drink the ordinary stuff, but I have to mix it with protein powder or Id never drink it. Ive tried one with lemon thats ok. But Ive also tried kinds that are so horrible they've gone down the sink. That bad. The one I bought today cheaply in home bargains is called Zico and it was 99p for a large bottle, and chocolate flavoured, was fine.0 -

The thing is, you have to train yourself to like them, like you are doing with fruit at the moment. Before I had my children, I would not even entertain the idea of eating any veg apart from carrots. I wouldn't even have them cooked in my house, let alone put on my plate! I swore that I hated every veg apart from carrots.
But, after having my 1st child and wanting to lose about 3st (which I did), I realised I had to start eating healthier, which meant veggies other than carrots.
Bit by bit, building up from TINY amounts ( I started off with 3 or 4 peas on my plate and literally built it up from that amount) I now eat most veggies- Broccoli, green beans, peppers, mangetout, sweetcorn, spinach, kale etc.
The point is that your taste buds will change if YOU change you eating habits.
Apart from celery. My tastebuds will never ever like celery.
Or porridge. One of those foods I knew before I tried it that Id hate it and I do.0 -
I hope my last post didn't come across as aggressive, Tink, I am just really rooting for you.
Pauline- the 1 thing that I still cannot abide are brussel sprouts. Every time I smell them I heave, and cant face cooking them at all.0 -

Not at all, I've edited just in case you didn't see the editRice pudding. Also a dish I have never tried and dont need to, because I know I will hate it.
I'll give most veg a go, but celery makes me ill.
I dont mind the taste of celery it's too hard for me these days though0 -

I hate celery so much, if theres a tiny bit of it in a sandwich, like even if it were grated, I couldnt do it. But oddly enough, if its in a stock cube I'll use the stock, because its very well disguised.
Needless to say my mum loves porridge (with salt as it was when she was growing up) and celery. If I had a quid for every time she said to be, just try it with a bit of salad cream, Id be minted.
She hates jam, custard and mustard, I think she finally got it when I said, how would you like a big cake with jam or some chips and mustard.
There are some veg I can eat cooked but not raw, or the raw is a struggle, tomatoes. I can eat carrots raw but struggle with them cooked.
I dont mind brussels but I wouldnt go out of my way to buy them.
I also find some veg really bland, like cauliflower.0 -
Just to say that there's no way I could eat 5-6 sausages in one sitting even if they are made of quorn. The very thought makes me feel ill:eek:
Same here. I usually have just two or three if they're chipolatas which is more than adequate for a portion size. No wonder obesity is on the increase if people are eating twice as much as they should!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Surely people can regulate their own food intake?
And I personally dont eat twice as much as I should. Even if I did eat 5 sausages for a main meal, I wouldnt have my main meal rounding off a day where I was shovelling food into my mouth left right and centre.
Its the overall balance of what you eat during a day that matters.
If someone ate 5 sausages and ate nothing else all day, they wouldnt be eating enough for that day.
Im also active, I could do two classes in a day and burn off 800 cals in that double class. Eating 5 sausages at just over 60 cals a sausage isnt something Id be concerning myself with in the slightest.
On my way home at night I pass a local takeaway that does a tea time special that lasts until the takeaway closes. It does a curry, it does a pizza and chips (12 inch). The chips are enough to feed 3 people. For the sum of £5 plus delivery. It does a roaring trade.
If I were going home at night and having my teatime special and someone said to me don't you think you are eating a bit much? I might step back and say yes you might be right.
5 quorn sausages with some mash and veg, really wouldnt concern me at all.
You could also look at it like, scenario 1. Person has some sausages with some mash and gravy. Someone says to them, thats a binge. Person feels awful about their eating habits and then goes on a real binge because they think !!!!!! it, everyone thinks Im a greedy git so I might as well stuff my face with chocolate
Scenario 2. Person has a small breakfast and a light lunch and has 5 quorn sausages with mash and veg for dinner. Theyve made changes to their diet, because they used to eat loads of takeaways, crips and biscuits. Someone says to them, you are looking great, well done. They feel good about themselves.
Its about perspective and what is a small portion for one person, wont be a small portion for another. If we were all made the same way it would be a very boring world indeed.0
