its best to lose weight slowly and not to DIET! just change your way of eating. ditch the 'junk' food, eat a healthy well balanced meal, watch your portion size, and don't count 'calories'.

Perhaps you need to try and work out what it is that makes you overeat.

For your own sake. Because there might be times where you can't cal count, on holiday for example and you would need to estimate and regulate your eating.

    Hunger makes me eat

    We never go on holiday

There have been times and I just don't count that day then I'm straight back on the wagon the next day

I had a feeling you might say you never go on holiday. Dare I say it, it may not be hunger that is making you eat. Or, as someone else said, maybe you are counting cals but not getting the best nutrition for your cals.

It takes a lot of excess cals to put on a pound of weight, will vary from person to person, but it's a few thousand on average.

The odd extra calorie here and there won't have the pounds piling on.

Don't know about you Tink, but my danger zone is boredom, at times I find I can eat when I'm bored :o often I've done it without realizing

I'm an emotional eater too, when I feel crap I tend to binge

A pound of fat I meant, you can put on water weight without eating thousands of excess calories. What I mean is, sometimes people get so fixated with counting cals, if they do weigh themselves and the scales have gone up or stayed the same even if they've made really good food choices, it can be disheartening.

Whereas if you try and find a balance between counting every calorie and what your overeating triggers are, you might find your weight balances out and you'll eventually find the weight your body is happy at.

Well it's true, we don't go on holiday

I know I'm not eating the best foods all of the time but I am trying

I'm definitely not an emotional eater, I'm more likely not to eat if I'm feeling sad it angry, not sure about boredom either, something to keep an eye on though

Then I don't know what it is because it's definitely not emotional and I'm not sure it's boredom, it's just that some days I'm more hungry than others, today for instance I'm not that hungry

I'm doing Slimming World and I'm very close to target now. I've lost just under 2.5 stone with SW and I lost 2.5 stone of my own accord. This time last year, I was preparing for my annual rugby club ball and I squeezed tightly into a size 22 but this year I will be wearing a size 14 that fits like a glove. And yes I am very much struggling at the minute as I know I have 2 1/2 weeks and in that 2 1/2 weeks there is no margin for error. But the best advice I can give is don't deprive yourself. But don't take the proverbial either. I lost 2 1/2 stone by depriving myself and not eating anything nice but I got bored. I've had weekends now where I've had 4 pints and a kebab on a Saturday night and still lost. Don't be too strict on yourself or it will never work. Good luck :)
