Afternoon everyone!
A month or two ago I mentioned my eBay 'jigsaw auction envy' - someone who got excellent prices on jigsaw auctions on Thursday evening.
As I'm not working today, I thought I'd use the opportunity to try the Thursday evening scene for myself, and had 3 jigsaw auctions ending around 8pm last night.
It worked ! For two of the jigsaws I got my aspirational amount of £6.50, and the other one went for £7 :T
I was very chuffed by this - next year I will make sure most of my jigsaw auctions end on a Thursday evening.
Everyone paid promptly, so I posted them on the way to Dobbies - it was cardholder 20% off day today. :j
We spent £61, saving about £15. We got two jigsaws and a festive Yankie candle for us, some *nice* Christmas cards for our favourite people, a couple of large bards of wild bird seed and a couple of Christmas presents. So, quite a good haul.
We've got our internet activation code for TSB, so we'll get the accounts funded this afternoon.
A charity bag came through the door, asking for clothes, so we are going to put in summer clothes that we wore to work
Summer working clothes no longer required

Hi everyone !
We've just been doing financial shuffling, getting the new TSB account funded, and, as there were more than 2 Direct Debits on the Santander 123 account, got that account funded as well.
I've made notes in my diary for the start of next month to do funding shuffles on all the accounts. I think I'll do it manually to start off with, as it's easier to make sure the right money is in the right place at the right time, but once I get used to it I might set up standing orders to do it.
After all the transferring money around that was needed, we both feel like we've had enough for today, and in true retirement style, the little wardrobe tidy up is postponed until tomorrow!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Oh no! I had a stupid parents evening yesterday and missed your resignation day! I am glad that it was a very positive occasion. Well done, and I am very envious.
Enjoy the weekend. I expect that going to work feels very different now.
All the very best,

Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Your time will come round soon - time passes very quickly.

Hello everyone !
After a week of having our new phones, I am pleased to say it has really worked to rid us of the automatic marketing type calls.
We've entered the numbers that we accept calls from and they just come through normally.
Any other numbers, the caller has to announce themselves to the 'call guardian'. If they don't announce themselves (all the auto calls and call centres will never say who they are), the call will be rejected, without the phone even ringing.
If they announce themselves, the phone will ring, and we can either accept the call, reject it, or reject and bar the number.
It has stopped dead all the nuisance calls!
The phone we got is the BT8500 (twin pack) I think it's sold in packs of one, two, three or four.
It really has worked for us
There's word that there's free eBay listing 9th November to 11th November, by invitation only. So I'm holding fire on eBay until tomorrow in the hope that I'm invited. It's been at least three weeks since I've had any free listing, and I really could do with it.
On the survey front, I was going to stop Ipsos I Say, as I had requested a voucher, and wasn't going to bother with them any more. But they offered me two high point paying surveys, which I was accepted for, and I'm already nearly half way to another £10 voucher. No doubt this isn't a coincidence, as they wanted to keep me hooked in. I expect surveys will now be as rare as hen's teeth. Cynical, moi ? :rotfl:
YouGov have changed their website, and it doesn't seem to be working very well. I have a survey that I couldn't complete due to technical issues, first time that's happened on YouGov.
I think I need to cheer myself up, so I think it's time to sling some old work clothes into the charity bag!:TEarly retired - 18th December 2014
