The phones sound amazing, Goldie, I'd no idea any BT phone could do that.

Lots of "cheering up" vibes heading your way - even tho whats happening is so great, its still a very big deal. Take care.

Hi, Karma, I've been in a strange mood today. I didn't sleep too well and kept having strange dreams, so I've been really tired today. Probably a reaction from all the recent excitement.

But I have to say, filling the charity bag was very satisfying!:)

As always I'm late ....all timings approximate in the Watty house - but I loved handing in letter 2 days after everyone else and am just soooo excited too :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Scoots in rather late to say that your resignation sounds perfect. How brilliant for you, looking forward to your last day. Take a tip from me DO NOT go quickly into another job!
  • How lovely to never have to wear boring work clothes again!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Hi everyone, it certainly is a slightly mind boggling concept not to need work clothes any more - I feel as if I'm walking round in a state of disbelief, that it really is happening and very soon!

Nice day today. We had roast chicken for dinner, and apple crumble for desert. I made the crumble with plain flour and Basics unsalted butter, so it was no sodium, therefore it's a good treat for me.

We'll have the chicken legs tomorrow for dinner, the rest of the meat is going in the freezer for sandwiches for my work lunches, and I'm going to make chicken soup from the carcass, which we can have for a quick dinner with rolls after work, later this week.

I got the free listing I was hoping for from eBay:T

I've made live or relisted about 25 items, so it didn't take long to do. A few things which didn't sell after two auctions I've tried as Buy It Nows. One of those sold about 15 minutes after listing, so that was very good. I've got the free listing until Tuesday - tomorrow, I might list a couple of jigsaws.

For next year, we are just going to have one diary, we are both going to share it for all our activities, and I'm also going to use it as the house diary.

I had particular requirements - ring bound, A5 size, one week to view.... which I know Paperchase sell, so I ordered one this afternoon (went through £co)

Order went through fine, got the confirmation email fine. Then 10 minutes later, I got an email from them saying the diary was waiting for me at my specified branch. This seems unlikely, as I have asked for it to be posted to me, didn't specify a branch and it wouldn't have got there in 10 minutes anyway. So I've had to fire off an email to find out what they are playing at.

This seems to be a theme at the moment - nothing is exactly going wrong, but there just seem to be odd niggles around that need sorting.

All part of life's rich tapestry as they say.

I've been pondering and thinking this evening and doing a bit of googling.

As a result, there may be a bit more life admin this week.

At present, both of us have our tax allowances allocated to our salaries, and all of our pension income is taxed.

When we stop working I was thinking that we'd contact HMRC, to get the tax allowance applied to our pensions.

However, depending on the length of time HMRC take, it was possible that we'd receive a taxed pension into January. As this would be our only income, if that happened, we'd be quite 'short' for a month or so.

What I've been thinking is, I'll ask for the tax codes to be changed now, so that the tax allowance can be put against our pensions immediately, and we pay more tax on our salary.

This would reduce the risk of a low income month, as the tax code will already have changed.

I'll probably do it by letter as I don't think it've got enough patience deal with a long wait on the phone.

I was hoping for time off from admin this week, but I think this would be a worthwhile thing to do.

I like the sound of those phones.. do you have to have a BT landline? We're with Sky so not sure if they'd work or not..

Hi, Shala. We are with BT, but from reading the information booklet, the phones work with any network provider - the key thing is to have the Caller Display service activated.

This weekend I had five eBay auctions ending, and four sold. Also two of the items that I listed as Buy It Now's yesterday have sold already, so that's 6 parcels in all. All of the items are on behalf of my friend, so I'll have to work out how much my share is and how much of that I'll transfer to my little savings account.

    Additional tasks for the week

List a few jigsaws on eBay

Tidy and de-clutter the 'financial' box. The current account opening spree has generated lots of paper and I can't even close the box at the moment

Do letters to HMRC to allocate personal allowances to pension income.

    Don't forget to check surveys

    Get birthday card for friend

    Make chicken soup.

Check 123 account for remaining DD set up

That's a modest list compared with last week.

    Have a good day everyone

Yesterday I got some things from my list done - I now have 4 meals worth of chicken soup in the freezer.

Today I'm going to do a chilli con carne in the slow cooker, and will probably draft out the letters to the tax office about our personal allowances.

Yesterday and today, my strange mood from the other day has returned.

There's nothing I can put my finger on that is causing it - I just feel a bit unsettled and not quite 'right'

I'll just get on with my day, and try and shake it off.
