My sore throat does seem to be developing into a cold, unfortunately.
I did want to go for a walk this morning, but I thought it more sensible to rest up.
Although, I'd have preferred the walk, it's lovely and sunny out, but a lot colder than it's been.
I've got a couple of loads of washing out on the line, so I'll get that ironed later.
Got a few auctions ending today, just a couple with bids on at present.
I had a case of auction envy on Thursday night. A person auctioned off quite a few new release jigsaws, just like the ones I've been doing, all made up just the once.
I aspire to £6.50 for this type of jigsaw - he got between £7.50 and £8.50 for each one
I can only think it was because of the time of night, 19.30 to 20.00.
I'm listing my 'nice' jigsaw for this week tomorrow night, to see if I can improve my price. An auction ending on Thursday isn't good for me, as I wouldn't be able to post on the FridayEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Goldie, get taking the echinacea, quick! Hope it doesn't develop too much
Interesting about the price the Thur auction achieved - you'll be able to do that after you retire, y'knownot long now! I've been having a conversation like that with my sister this morning - the freedom it gives, to be able to do things at less cost, and to do so much more, is very invigorating

I've only got the Lemsip!
I really need to get into herbal remedies, I'm sure the natural way is better than drugs
On a health note, we have a blood pressure monitoring device. When I had my blood pressure taken at the hospital a couple of weeks ago it was really high, but it always is in medical situations.
So I thought I'd better start monitoring again, so I did it this afternoon. The low sodium diet is obviously working, as my blood pressure is now low. I did it twice in case it was a false reading and tried it on Mr Goldie (his pressure is exactly the same as the last time we did this three years ago)
I suppose low is better than high, but it's much lower than my normal figure.
Will have to keep an eye on it.
I know nothing about what jigsaw buyers want! My lovely new jigsaw went for £5.50. But a really old, quite tatty one, went for £5.36!
I don't think I'll ever work out eBay buyers!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Another fan of breakfasts out here - in fact we did that this morning. Very relaxed and a chance to read the paper for free too! :money:OH likes a full Scottish B'fast and its usually enough to keep him not wanting an evening meal
.
Well done on the lo salt diet - glad you are getting used to it. OH has a disability so when we travel we get specialist insurance where you need to declare any pre existing conditions etc. There are lots of companies offering it so worth shopping around - not sure if they appear on comparison sites, probably not.
I don't do ebay but do Amazon and like wise am sometimes at a loss to understand buyers.0 -
Morning all!
Thanks for the insurance info, Teapot. I've googled a few insurances, and I know some companies cover Menieres. I think it's the unpredictability that is the problem. You can be fine for years, and then suddenly hit a bad stage.
It's very dull here today, and it seems to have started to rain. From the forecast it looks as if it going to rain a lot today.
So, general plans are
Post eBay parcels
Finish a bit of ironing from yesterday's washing
Housework - just want to concentrate on the kitchen. I want to give all surfaces and cupboard fronts a good wipe down, and get a couple of drawers and a cupboard sorted and tidied.
Have a good day:)Early retired - 18th December 2014

Yep, take it easy today - and as for buyers, sometimes I think its the luck of the draw ...
About insurance companies - I print out my mum's travel insurance when she goes to my sister's house in France, I can find the details if you want? She needs a specialist insurer because of her age (she's 88!) and there's a family history of low blood pressure. Bananas can often stabilise blood pressure ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi Goldie
:T Just a quick visit to let you know that RM have just invited me back to do the 6 month survey again (starts again next month), so I thought I'd give you the heads up ... might be worth going back and re-registering with them again as "interested" as they might mail you the invitation if they're on a wide take-up at the moment? It'll save the cost of some of your Xmas stamps if you get on the next round.Another fan of breakfasts out too ... just like Ed said, we sometimes use it as a meet up opportunity with family, especially as the cafe in the local main park does a passable breakfast and has plenty of tables etc outside so we can combine it with a dog walk and, as others have rightly said, you still have the rest of the day free too. Took mum and her partner a couple of times over the summer and it's all very relaxed. Perhaps there are park eateries near you ... or there's somewhere lovely to eat at one of your local National Trust venues (it is NT you're members of isn't it)?
Understand how you feel about the hearing aids, hopefully the audiologist will find you one that suits you better. Please do take care of your ears as you've got this cold which seems to be doing the rounds ... we are all thick with it at the mo and it can muck your ears up something horrible. Plenty of preventative rest m'dear. x

Oh yes please, if you've any details, that'd be very helpful. I'm going to stick with M&S for our upcoming weeks holiday, as I feel comfortable that I'll be able to go away for a week without any issues, but after that, I will want to look round and see what else is out there, so any suggestions gratefully received
Guess what I had as part of my lunch? A banana. They are currently one of my favourite fruits, so I'll keep on buying them as they are good for meEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Cheers re RM, I'll re-register again - I'm determined to get accepted if it's the last thing I do !:rotfl:
I'm not sure why I've never thought of breakfast out before. It's all of the pleasure of eating out, with all the people watching etc, at a fraction of the cost, and doesn't take all day.
It's making me hungry just thinking about it!
Fortunately, my cold doesn't seem to have turned into anything too bad, touch wood. In the past, sometimes I've had the sort of cold that makes my ears feel muffled, so I was a bit nervous of that happening this time. Any fluctuation in my hearing is a concern these days!
However, I've decided against going for a walk today, just in case. I'm going to get myself one of those furry hats with ear flaps, so I can go out in winter, but make sure I keep my ears warm
I've managed to get the things done in the kitchen that I was planning. Just moved things around a bit to free up some space. I liberated a massive BBQ utensil set that was taking up far to much room in a drawer. We've only ever used a couple of the utensils. They can stay, the rest will go.
There's a few more cupboards I'll be tidying in the next few weeks, and probably a few more bits and pieces will go.
Our meals today are mostly leftovers. I had the remainder of the pizza I made on Saturday for lunch, and we've got chicken from yesterday for dinner.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I can't find the name - so I've emailed my sister, she's the one who actually arranged it. I won't be getting back to you in a hurry, but she'll let me know
