Also, taking a leaf out of Mr Ed's book, I think we'll be more likely to cook something special at home for celebratory meals.

    Woohoo - famous for 15 seconds :)

One fun thing I've found about eating out is to go 'out for breakfast'. Its a lot cheaper than going out for dinner but just as lovely - and - I was thinking might be easier for you with the no salt options.
    Just an idea :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

That's a good idea :) We have done that occasionally, but not for years and years

For a cooked breakfast I'd probably be limited to eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes, but if I could find a breakfast buffet place with fruits, grains, cereals, nuts, yoghurts, smoothies etc, it'd be awesome! That's the sort of thing I normally have when I'm on a cruise, so my new diet is no hardship for a big breakfast!

That's my working week over with. I've got a day's holiday as I've got an appointment at audiology tomorrow, at 8.15am. Once that's done, the day is our own.

I can honestly say that a hospital appointment is preferable to another day at work like today.

What with the end of the month/end of the quarter/start of the month, it's very busy, and there was a lot of work that hadn't been completed. More and more stuff kept being put on my desk, and I had to remind them that I was only there for one day this week. I had lots of work left at the end of the day, so they'll have to get someone else to do it.

I must admit, I was starting to feel stressed, so I had to take a step back, and do some deep breathing just to calm myself.

It's not going to get much better, my job share partner leaves on Tuesday, and another member of the team is transferring to a new team in November.

But it's not long to go, so I'll just put my head down and try and get on with it.

EDITED TO ADD - Just looked at Carluccio's breakfast menu - it looks awesome! I know where my next meal out will be! Watty, you are a genius!

    Brilliant idea!

Goldie, do you take any healthy snacks into work, like crudites? The effort of chewing carrot sticks can release a fair bit of tension :)

I prefer the idea of a great breakfast out, tho :)

Another fan of breakfast as a meal out here, it's a really good way to catch up with friends and family as well. You get to sit down for a meal together, there's plenty of time to chat, and you still have the whole day left if you need to do other things. We've actually had more breakfasts with my parents as a couple in the last year than we've had dinners with them in 7-8 years!

Yes, I can see how that'd work - the effort of chomping on the carrot would take your mind off what was causing you stress.

Another plus point, I like raw carrots ( but not as much as a nice breakfast!)

I am now the possessor of a hearing aid!

I attended my audiology appointment, and the lady produced a hearing aid, with a mould for my ear, and put it on me, and asked how it felt.

I told her it felt like a plug in my ear! I hate having things in my ear at the best of times, and also the sound was really echoey. Even my voice sounded odd.

I told the lady that, as my hearing was better now, I'd feel happier with an open mould, which doesn't plug the ear up so much, so she agreed to issue a different type. :)

But it will take a lot of getting used too. It picks up EVERY noise, including the rustle of my clothing.

I wore it for a couple of hours. We went to M&S for coffee (2 x vouchers used) and then got a couple of bits of food for the weekend.

When I got home I felt exhausted from the effort of wearing it, and it is now sitting on my bedside table.

I will keep trying, but I'm doubtful if I will wear it often. I get on fine without it, especially as my hearing is up, and although it is discrete and not very noticeable, it makes me feel like I've got a disability when I wear it. I don't perceive myself as having a disability - but wearing the aid keeps drawing my attention to my situation, when I would rather not keep thinking about it.

We shall see how it goes!

In financial news, I paid the water bill for the last 6 months. £166.52. We switched to a meter some years ago, and it has saved us a lot of money. We averaged 212 litres per day, 1 litre less than this time last year.

I got a £10 payout from Opinion Outpost. It's been a bit slower on there, but still much better than the other survey sites. £30 in slightly less than 2 months is very good, in my opinion.

I transferred £15 to the LXF - the tenner from OO and the £5 Hx Reward.

Had a parcel in the post, a return of a pair of shorts I sold at the end of August. The person I sold it too appears not to have collected it from the sorting office. I've messaged to see what she wants to do - hope she doesn't want a refund as I got a good price for them. But if she wants to have them resent, I suppose I have to pay the postage again.

We are members of the M&S Premium Club - we pay £15 per month for this, but it works well for us, as we like using the additional points and money off vouchers, plus the free coffee vouchers. But our main reason for having the Premium club is the travel insurance that is included. We also trust M&S as an insurance provider, as they paid out with no hassle when we had to cancel a holiday when my mum died.

So - Mr Goldie phoned them yesterday to advise them of my Meniere's diagnosis, and I wouldn't be covered for any Meniere's related claims, and there's no option to pay a bit extra to get cover for this.

A bit disappointed with this, to be honest.

However, I think I'll manage to have our week's cruise at Christmas with anything untoward happening. But after than, I'll just have to see how I'm doing, and where we're travelling to. For a European holiday I would feel ok to travel, without having cover for the Menieres if I feel like I'm feeling now.

But in February 2016 we have a longer cruise to the USA booked - I'm sure I'd sort something else out by that point. Going so far away and for an extended break I'd need the peace of mind to know I was covered for any eventuality.

At least I'm now free of hospital appointments for a few months.:j.

I have a bit of a sore throat, so I might be getting a cold. Maybe it won't develop any further, I hope not.

I went for a nice walk this morning, which was just as well as it's raining now.

We've booked up another show at the Marlowe theatre for next April, so something else to look forward too.

Not much going on today, so we'll just relax a bit:)
